Brooks story: True or False?
Caveira replied to Interviewed_at_Weehawken's topic in International Wrestling
Just a guess Following a wrestling victory, Aaron Brooks, a Penn State athlete, stated during a post-match interview that his success was due to his Christian faith and thanked Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit . He then added, "...no false prophets, no Muhammad or anyone else, only Jesus Christ himself...". This statement was seen as a disparagement of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad by some. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in Philadelphia called Brooks' remark "unnecessary and inappropriate" and stated that while they commended athletes for expressing their faith, it was wrong to denigrate Islam while representing a diverse student body. CAIR encouraged Brooks to engage with the Muslim community at Penn State to build understanding and learn to respectfully disagree. The NCAA also deleted a video of the interview containing these comments from their Twitter feed. -

This is an incentives issue …. Like sooo many other issues. Media that focuses on wrestling, and who require access to key leaders, coaches, wrestlers to be able to create content that results in themselves getting paid, will do their damn best to avoid throttling their access to the key people. Note, action that threatens access to NON-key people but would result in good clicks and revenue, that action is much more likely to occur. Thus there is disparity in negative coverage at times. What we are wishing for is that the sport would be big enough for there to be journalists that are more objective and more willing to probe, seek, and report without fear of reprisal that would damage their money making potential. There would be a big enough market for info - driving revenue to these people. We are far far from that spot. I kinda feel for the media guys today — in a tough spot. I do think they need to think harder about disparaging those bringing forth claims.

Question for @Husker_Du, had you and Basch heard rumors of these types of allegations prior to it becoming public? Robbie Wendell who has no connection to PSU said he's heard talk of these things for the past 3 years. Beau came out publicly on the PSU forum and said (without specifying at first) that bad things happened to him and even worse things happened to some women. And then you came out and criticized Beau for how he handled it and Basch called it a nothingburger. Even at the time, I thought that was in poor taste. If indeed you had heard the same rumors that Robbie and others had heard and then saw Beau's post giving more credence to those things, and you two still responded the way you did, then it's that much worse. And then Christian Pyles saw all of that, waited three days after the article came out and said hold my beer and bashed the actual journalist for doing actual reporting because he can't comprehend doing anything except praising "the heroes of our sport" as he said. At the same time, he glossed over or ignored the actual allegations, and blamed Beau's wife and called her an attention seeker.

He has tremendous support amongst young jews. He comes out of a political organization that is heavily jewish. He’s also never said a bad thing about jews. The mainstream party and media are being very slippery about this. They are trying to make him answer for what *other people* have said to make voters associate him with positions he doesn’t hold. He’s maintained that Israel has a right to exist as a state with equal rights. He’s said antisemitism is a major problem that needs to be addressed. He does not use the phrase “globalize the intifada.” All he’s said is he wouldn’t ban the phrase because it means different things to different people and the NYC mayor’s job is not to police speech. I’d love to see our 1A supporters on here explain why that’s wrong.

1 billion is 1000x more than 1 million, so no.

Yep. That’s correct. It was created to help streamline the transfer process for schools and athletes and allow other schools of your intention to transfer so they may recruit you. It isn’t a requirement to transfer to another school though. You can’t be recruited if you don’t enter the portal.

There are plenty of declarations like that in the world. What I know is this: they’re bringing their corruption and cruelty with them to the West. A lot of people in Iran hold deep grudges against these families. It’s possible that by the time we gain the operational power to act against these traitors, the current rulers of Iran will already be dead. When that day comes, we’ll go after their children. And if their children are gone too, we’ll go after their grandchildren. I hope, when that day comes, your children or grandchildren aren’t standing beside them. You have the chance to prevent that danger now. For the safety of your own kids, don’t let the children of regime agents and Islamic Republic loyalists into your country.

What journalists? Who are you claiming is a journalist? Are you claiming to be one? You have a degree in journalism? You worked for a newspaper or news station as a reporter? The internet was completely shut down in the early days of the war in Iran by the Islamic Republic. They claimed Israel was using internet towers to control drones. After the ceasefire, they gradually started restoring access. The modem I have just fully connected today—it was barely getting a signal the past few days.

No. Because they don’t even work in Iran. Their developers are based in Europe and Canada. And even the ones who are still in Iran and work for military-affiliated institutions have access to supercomputers, ultra-fast internet, and tools that let them bypass these sanctions completely—so restrictions like this don’t affect them at all. And let me show you yet another example of this bizarre contradiction. Ensieh Khazali was the former Vice President of Iran under Raisi—the man known as “the Butcher” for his brutal role in executing political dissidents. She’s also the daughter of one of the highest-ranking ayatollahs in Iran. Ensieh is one of the figures behind Iran’s internet censorship policies. Because of people like her, Iranians have no direct access to platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Telegram, X (Twitter), or even YouTube. If they want to use them, they have to pay for a VPN. Now guess what Ensieh’s son does for a living? He runs a VPN company in Canada! Here’s her Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ensieh_Khazali And here’s a picture of her son, who sells VPNs from Canada to Iranians trying to get around the censorship he and his family helped create: https://techna.news/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/image-2.jpg https://rooziato.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/image_750x_631b112a452c7.jpg See what kind of corrupt business they’re running? And yet people are still willing to give them green cards and say things like “you can’t blame the children for the actions of their parents.” Seriously? They’re all in this together. When someone asked Ensieh what her son is doing in Canada, she replied: “He’s helping export the Islamic Revolution to the West.”

Beware taking anything that guy says for any value, this is simply not true. The visa, which is a near enough match to what is available from many countries, has a vetting process and would not be honored for any terrorist. However, if a known terrorist offered $5 million to come here, the FBI would be happy to arrange a meeting at the airport, much as your IRGC might greet one of our CIA or military officers.
