The original point was that Stanich will not go 149 to avoid having to beat Mendez to win a title. Not whether or not he'd duck him in the regular season. If he goes 149 it's because he's a 149 pounder, not to get an easier road.

We (the community) have been saying that for years. I simply don’t believe it. Look at participation numbers at the high school or college level. Why is there dramatically fewer athletes competing in free ….. as a 16 year old high school kid for example. Good sport is good sport. People would watch it or attend if the product was fantastic. MMA for example. Good product. People pay to watch it. It came from nothing….. To now super stardom.

Will all due respect AnklePicker, I think Mphillips is right, and you'd have a hard time convincing the rest of the world that Seniors isn't the litmus test. A couple of things . . . Hard to consider us the best wrestling country right now given our poor showing at 2024 Olympics...three total medals and no gold- the first time in 56 years. We finished 3rd (4th if you count Russia), so that doesn't equal best. And no golds in non-Olympic weights either. As OP suggested, I believe Jordan Burroughs was a catalyst for this recent "Golden Age." I was at Worlds in Budapest in 2013 for the dark days- when we only had one total world medal, a gold by Burroughs on a bum leg. At that point, he was USA Wrestling, and these kids now at U17/U20/U23 were grade schoolers who idolized him. I'm just as excited about this young crop as you (and everyone) are- I'm very hopeful that they can have the same impact in college and at the Senior level...time will tell, but we've never assembled this much talent at one time. It's exciting!

Then why do more fans go to NCAAs vs the us open or final x. Why are there 10x more posts on the college forum vs the international. Why do only a small % of folkstyle wrestlers participate on the freestyle circuit. What % of posts on flow wrestling are folk vs free. Their business model is clicks. Surely …. They cater to the one that gets the most clicks right ? Freestyle is simply more boring than folkstyle to the average fan. Are their fanatic freestyle fans. 100%. But they’re a small % of the overall fan base.

I don't agree - Luke has grown into the weight more and is still improving - I won't say I'm picking him over JM but I think it will be a very competitive match.

I worked at a company for 28 years in a number of different positions and locations. Every job has its good and bad even if you love it (which I did) That’s why they call it a job.

I worked at a company where OT was variable so it didn’t pay to work longer unless you sold more during the OT hours. I also regularly reviewed any people that were averaging over 50 hours per week to see if it was the system or the person causing it. We found that productivity after 50 hours dropped significantly and we were better off course correcting and getting them to a manageable schedule. Allowing them to better balance their lives was the right thing to do.

I understand completely. Don’t start a war you can’t win. And. Work with me here. Release the darn hostages. give me one reason they should not release the hostages.
