  2. https://www.wsj.com/health/wellness/ozempic-amateur-athletes-3fc9e0bf?st=MDcCJp&reflink=article_copyURL_share WSJ article saying in small doses it is helping weight sensitive athletes. Example of being able to gain muscle mass. Also has examples of caution. Not working well. Seems mixed in end.

  4. I'm sure Zahid trains ass off. He needs figure out what is needed to not be exhausted art end. That's what holding him to next level. So far he had Dake and Brooks beat but could not and barely hung on. Time for experts . Not me. But he does need figure that out. I would bet on Dake best of 3 next time JMHO Frank C
  5. Mirzazadeh is like 25/26 years old and Yousefi is 27 I think. Relatively speaking for 130kg Greco they are still quite young. I think your analysis is pretty spot on regarding the three. However, since UWW might be changing the passivity rules for the worlds and olympics Mirzazadeh might be at a disadvantage. Especially since Yousefi and Hedayati have both looked really really good recently. But given Greco's trajectory in recent years it would be hard to see anyone aside from Iran having strong enough 130s to challenge any of these three. The only prospects I can think of would be Hamza Bakir of Turkiye, the U20 Ukrainian and another junior Hungarian as potential threats. Even Semenov is like 30 so he could still be around for a couple more years but I don't see him drastically improving at 33/34 to beat these guys entering their primes.
  6. I hope he is running a club of some sort. We need more wrestlers of the previous generation involved in grass roots coaching. Him, Reza Yazdani, Komeil Ghasemi and Mehdi Taghavi have a lot to offer for our current crop of guys. I know Ghasemi is in India at the moment. I feel like Dabir's influence in the freestyle space is preventing our coaches from doing their job even though wrestling-wise I think Dabir is doing a great job overall.
  7. I saw a clip on Twitter where Schultz pinned Coon, Coon looked like he was completely unconscious. Might've had his bell rung or choked out.
  8. Wow 70kg is loaded
  9. Anyone know what happened in the 130KG Greco finals. I heard Schultz pinned Coon and then Coon FF the second match. Injury from the first match?
  10. He is elderly in middle weight years. The only wrestling demographic that performs well from their mid 30s to early 40s are greco roman super heavyweights.
  11. Gotta be fake news ... left wingers like rv wouldn't lie to us.
  12. You didn't make a mistake. Flo had it listed at 6:00PM Eastern. I even made an early trip to pick up pizzas!
  13. Just watched the twins on Bo Nickal podcast. Yeah, you aren't separating these two.
  14. Perhaps JB is now salivating at the idea of going to WTT at 79 KG. Salivating but not eating anything.
  15. Article 43 – Technical Superiority Except from the fall and the disqualification, the bout must be stopped before the end of regular time when: - There are 8 points difference in Greco Roman style and 10 points difference in Freestyle between the wrestlers The bout may not be interrupted to declare the winner by technical superiority until the action is completed (see article 27). Article 27 – End of the Bout The bout ends either when a fall, a disqualification by injury of one of the opponents are declared, or at the end of the regular time. A match ends by technical superiority (8 points difference in Greco Roman wrestling and 10 points difference in Freestyle and Women’s wrestling). When a wrestler scores 8 points more than his opponent in Greco-Roman Wrestling and 10 points more in Freestyle and Women’s Wrestling, he wins the match by superiority. In any case, the referee must wait for the end of the action: attack, counter-attack or takedown where the wrestler is in a position that may lead to a fall. If the referee has not heard the gong, the mat chairman must intervene and stop the bout by throwing a soft object on the mat, in order to attract the referee’s attention. Any action begun at the time when the gongsounds is not validated and no action performed between the sounds of the gong and the referee’s whistle is valid. When the bout has ended, the referee stands in the center of the mat facing the mat chairman’s table. The wrestlers shake hands, stand on either side of the referee and await the decision. They are forbidden to lower the shoulder straps of their singlet before leaving the competition hall. Immediately after the decision is announced, the wrestlers shake hands with the referee. Each wrestler must then shake hands with his opponent’s coach. If the above provisions are not observed, the wrestler at fault will be penalized in accordance with the Disciplinary Regulations. It would seem that Carr was not in a position that would lead to a fall, so they stopped the match when MM attained a 10 point lead. At least that is the way I interpret it.
  16. @red viking @Tripnsweep this is dying for a response from y’all.
  17. So, on the last sequence at 74kg, Mesenbrink scored his 16th point, and Carr wrestled through for a reversal. I’ve seen some international refs/judges/chairs go 2 and 1 there. 9 point lead if they do that. What is the correct call? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. It’s a good gig if you can get it!
  19. How much was DT able to help Zahid against Dake? I'm sure knows all of Dake's strength's and relative weaknesses ... even if he was unable to exploit them himself. It must be tough coaching against your best friend and former room partner
  20. No, nonono you don’t want this. They had this rule already in the early 2000’s, I did all my freestyle/greco during this time, and you had to hold exposure for an extra point in between each turn, it slowed the pace of wrestling down a sh1tton. This limitation is precisely what made freestyle and greco boring to the point it almost got yanked from the olympics.
  21. Does anyone know why Kellen Wolbert is projected to be a 157 in college, but is wrestling at 61kg in this tournament? I get that he wrestled at 144 during the regular season, but it seems like he may be a bit smaller. Just curious.
  22. The U.S. Open in golf is an "open" because anyone can play if they make it through a qualifier. Open means that anyone can qualify to compete, not necessarily that literally anyone can compete in the singular event. I do think creating a qualification system, especially for u17/u20 could be difficult, but some of these brackets are a little absurd.
  23. Dake and I are the same age. I've been saying it for the last handful of years that I can't believe guys like him, Taylor, and Burroughs could still maintain the grind that it takes to be near the top of the world after your body has physically peaked. How many 34 year old wrestlers are winning world titles from any country? Dake also just isn't an 86kg wrestler.. at least right now.
  24. 25. Meanwhile, U20s carry on into the night and the morning and the night and the morning. Until they perhaps opt for a Squid Game war of attrition
  26. I have mixed feelings. You could make the same argument about a pin in collegiate. I think of the biggest one being Jenkins pin over Taylor in the NCAA finals. I wanted to see the match play out, but in our sport there are ways to end a match early. Is getting caught in a lace or trapped arm gut that much different than a cradle? I feel like I want more wrestling in both scenarios. That being said, the death sentence that is often signed by getting laced or trap armed is underwhelming. Edit: Typo
  27. Best match was 61KG. A festival of fun
