  1. Scott Coleman of Iowa State defaulted to Mocco on a restart when he could have won via disqualification.
  2. I was going through the rankings and looking for Polish names. He isn't ranked anywhere so he slipped my mind.
  3. Anyone have suggestions for the 3 open roster spots on the Polish lineup? Yaroslav Slavikouski graduating really hurt us... 125: Brzozowski (Harvard) 133: Motyka (Penn) 141: ? 149: Wasilewski (Penn) 157: Rozynski (Lehigh) 165: Filipowicz (Army) 174: ? 184: Wojcikiewicz (Stanford) 197: Zurawski (Rider) 285: ?
  4. Yeah he is. Cesar Alvan (3rd last year at 165), too. Those two plus the Nebraska athletes all compete under the Brazilian flag in international competitions. I had to confirm some of these because a lot of college wrestlers have BJJ careers, but obviously not every Latino/Latina wrestler who does jiujitsu is an actual Brazilian, LOL.
  5. Dr. Bryan Snyder went 4/5/2/2
  6. Yeah, no. "Dieringer" is the best wrestling name. Someone asked about Brazil....Nebraska has 2 on their roster who compete for Brazil internationally: Marco Christiansen and LJ Araujo.
  7. Also, I thought that Coon had the best hit list of a non-champ (Nelson, Gwiz, Snyder) until I saw Sebastian Rivera's resume. I don't know how you could argue with actual data that Seabass is not the best non-champ. Unreal.
  8. The closest match Cael had in college was Damion Hahn right out of high school. 4-3 win at the UN Omaha tournament I believe. Many long-time fans of the sport will tell you that Hahn is STILL the best upper weight HS wrestler ever, particularly on his feet. A guy who won 2x NCAA championships and people will say that was a disappointment considering how awesome he was coming out of HS. He had to be struggling making 184.
  9. Sam Hazewinkel, Daton Fix, and Adam Coon immediately come to mind.
  10. Gabe Arnold. Ultimate team player and advocate for Mental Health. Truly inspirational, even though he's a Hawkeye, LOL.
  11. You seem to have forgotten about a national champ and 2x finalist who beat both #8 and #9 last year...
  12. A few years ago, but Ian Miller. It was like a dude who only practiced the coolest most spectacular moves.
  13. Alex Dieringer also falls into this category, and he was one of the best college wrestlers of all time.
  14. Those guys had great seasons the years they won but IMHO to be considered in the convo for best 1x champ, you're looking at minimum 4x or 5x AA's who were 2nd or 3rd in the other years. Duane Goldman is a great example but a little before my time.
  15. IDK about underrated. Ask JB how (pun intended) tough he was. IMHO he's one of the best 1x champs in history, along with Parker Keckeisen and Alan Fried.
  16. Also, Antrell Taylor can levitate, and the Shapiro's have a seriously nice home gym in the basement.
  17. Nebraska: 125: V Rob (top 5, champ potential) 133: VanDee (anywhere from R12-5th, he's always nails at the tourney) 141: Hockaday (??? Not enough data) 149: Echemendia (low AA finish is my guess) 157: Taylor (top 5, champ potential) 165: Araujo (anywhere from R12-low AA, truly one of the top riders in the NCAA) 174: Minto (top 5, champ potential) 184: Cochran (not really a lot of data for 184, hope he scores points) 197: McDanel (I'm guessing he finishes somewhere 5th-8th again) HWT: Ziola (tough to predict a bulk job, but he split with Hopke and beat Coby Merrill last season so expectations are high) Team: Anything less than top 3 is a disappointment this season.
  18. Huskers also signed Lucas Cochran today to fill the 184 spot. They have to be considered the #2 team at this point...
  19. Whelp, Nebraska just put any questions about who's winning the portal game to bed. Go Big Red!
  20. One of the most eye-popping results from the weekend was in the consolation of 79kg U20. The run that Danny Heiser, the 3rd place finisher, went on is absolutely ridiculous. Loses in the first round and then gets a dozen 10-0 techs in a row, most of them under a minute.
  21. For all the talk about how exciting and wide-open 184 would be this past season, the actual matches between the top guys were pretty boring. Angelo Ferrari and Rocco Welsh are world class wrestlers, but we all know how their matches are going to go.
  22. Re: Vince Robinson's HS recruiting, IIRC he was always getting 2nd/3rd in IL behind Sergio Lemley and Dylan Ragusin when he was in HS. He also wrestles at a lighter weight in college than he did in HS, which is kind of rare.
  23. Thinking 3 very talented freshmen starters: Hockaday at 141, Zinkin 149, Ziola 285. Xfer at 184 maybe. At 125, Lauridsen is a Nebraska native, got 7th at big ten and won a match at nationals, so it's not a "hole" per se, but you need an AA contender at every weight nowadays to make that program leap to perennial team trophies.
  24. You're thinking of Connor Mirasola
