2024 UWW Senior World Championships...
larry_bird_enthusiast replied to D3 for LU's topic in International Wrestling
sadulaev’s hard leftie lead seemed like it shut down some of DT’s offense too feel for DT, that’s rough, but that’s wrestling -
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DADriO4Rwzc/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link JB making a point to directly call out Penn State “fans, coaches, and wrestlers” after winning trials at 79kg. Warranted or no? Obviously the fan stuff was not cool, but does anyone know why he would have called out the Penn State coaches as well? Sounds like he didn’t appreciate all the hate getting thrown around…

74 KG -Zhamalov/Valiev call
larry_bird_enthusiast replied to BuckyBadger's topic in International Wrestling
Crazy call. 4 seconds left, Valiev was circling, match ends, Valiev wins. Zhamalov corner challenges fleeing (not even a sequence), they review, give Zhamalov 1, overturn the match. I’ve seen plenty of bad fleeing before - that wasn’t close. -
Olympic Wrestling ... Day 6
larry_bird_enthusiast replied to oldschool's topic in International Wrestling
Zhamalov’s camp must have paid the refs this Olympics. Between that insane “fleeing” challenge he won in his match vs Valiev that overturned the entire match and then that pin that was nowhere close to flat. Obviously still impressive tho. Congrats to him. -
Olympic Wrestling ... Day 5
larry_bird_enthusiast replied to peanut's topic in International Wrestling
Those chest wrap calls by the ref were terrible and dake should have ended up with at least 6 more points than he had by the end if they weren’t all called wildly in favor of takatani. That said we all know he couldn’t let takatani get in on the leg as often as he did and sadly couldn’t keep him off it. Feel bad for dake and hope he can bounce back -
Brooks Interview on Basch.
larry_bird_enthusiast replied to Threadkilla's topic in International Wrestling
biggest takeaway from the interview was dang this guy does not like david taylor -
there is 100p beef between david and bo…brooks talked about it in an interview in last years final x, said the PSU coaches “did Bo dirty” at the 2021 trials vs taylor. notice bo coaching against taylor in AB’s corner today

2024 OTT Day 1 Session 2 thread
larry_bird_enthusiast replied to bnwtwg's topic in International Wrestling
“Messenbrink genuinely is having fun when he wrestles” yeah, having fun by wrestling people light years after the whistle and risking injury, shoving people onto the ground after the whistle, erratically trying to shake hands with people during the middle of matches (you say it’s “good sportsmanship”, others would call it extremely annoying and performative), verbally talking to his opponents during matches, smacking people in the face with his “snaps”, smacking people in the butt randomly during matches (not appropriate…). just because the kid gives nice interviews and wrestles hard doesn’t mean you should put blinders on to what he’s actually doing out there, “desanto-like” is a pretty good comparison. he’s young and a nice guy, hopefully he’ll learn this stuff is not cool all that said the jb back of the head shove was also over the top and not cool. but understand his frustration -
hear that brother…nothing to be ashamed of from JB, he will go down as one of if not the GOAT maybe he tries to go 79 just this year, win a world title, then call it quits after getting gold once more

2024 OTT Day 1 Session 2 thread
larry_bird_enthusiast replied to bnwtwg's topic in International Wrestling
everyone excited for mike malinconico to commentate this round? -
I also couldn’t understand why this wasn’t a takedown…behind both arms with a leg hooked, is that not a takedown anymore? Agree that the rule should be adjusted if it’s not…attacking wrestler is in complete control in this position, defensive guy is just holding on for dear life there, poor incentive to reward the stalemate.

Was Plott’s single leg finish on Truax legal (first period shot where Truax got hurt)? I genuinely don’t know. Have seen guys do this finish a lot but it also looks like Plott turns out the foot before driving which seems worse for the knee.
