  1. This thread aged well.
  2. If Barr is healthy Penn St. will likely advance all ten. Has Cael done that before?
  3. It’ll be Gable after Saturday. Right now, Retherford edges it out for me by wrestling as true freshman and going undefeated in 3 straight seasons.
  4. Burroughs Smith Bruce Snyder Taylor or Dake It’s hard to take seriously anyone who doesn’t have Snyder on their list. The guy has made 10 world/Olympic teams while winning 9 medals including four golds and three silvers. Kemp and Shultz aren’t in the same category of success.
  5. I would honestly rank a few 3xers ahead of him, and probably every current 4xer.
  6. Imar was a RS freshman but I think you’re right with Schlatter. Impressive memory.
  7. Has a true freshman won B10 and NCAAs before? Wondering if Lilledahl has a chance at history. I could be missing a few obvious examples but no one came to mind.
  8. I’m not a big greco fan — what’s the consensus on his all time status? Would another gold elevate him above Karelin in most people’s minds? Is he already at that level of accomplishment?
  9. Iowa and OkSt could combine rosters and still not beat Penn State in a dual this year. And honestly, I love it. Watching this level of dominance is as exciting to me as a competitive team race. And besides, the team race for #2 is still competitive!
  10. RS then he should go 165 and MM 174. Following year he moves up to 174.
  11. When’s the last time someone had a 100% bonus at the end of a regular season? I can’t remember anyone doing that in the last decade. The fact that not one but two wrestlers this year hit that mark tells me it’s a consequence of the 3 point take down (and maybe limited schedules too). Still incredibly impressive. What’s the highest bonus % after NCAAs in the wrestlestat era? Low 90s?
  12. Based on what? Not sure how you can make a case for Ramirez, Hall, Barraclough, and Caliendo being inferior p4p wrestlers to Kerk, Wyatt, Trumble, and Shultz, etc. Based on the size of the talent pool alone, HW is a considerably weaker division than the lighter weight classes.
  13. Is Ayala wrestling? Thought I read he’s injured. 125 Lilledahl dec Cruz 3-0 133? Ayala dec Davis (if he’s not injured?) 3-3 141 Bartlett dec Rhodes 6-3 149 SVN dec Parco 9-3 157 Kasak Dec Teemer 12-3 165 MM Dec Caliendo 15-3 174 Haines dec Kennedy 18-3 184 Starocci MD Arnold 22-3 197 Buchanon dec Barr 22-6 HWT Kerk dec Kueter 25-6
  14. If this team stays healthy it’ll break the point record from last year. Might even have 10 AAs.
  15. Zain squeaks it out for several reasons that are aren’t captured in the data. I heavily weigh wrestling as a true freshman. Two of his three losses were to the defending 2x national champ, who would go on to win 4 and become an all time great. Taylor is similar in this aspect. Also, a 94 match win streak is just incredible.
  16. This thread seems to be geared towards that, yes. I was responding to a post that mentioned the inclusion of freestyle.
  17. I think Dake has beaten 8 multiple time national champions, which is just insane. Valencia, Imar, Nolf, Taylor, Cox, Burroughs, Dieringer, Cenzo,
  18. They should bump a few folks up. Would pay dividends as the season progresses. 125 LL 133 Davis 141 Nagao 149 BB (RS Kasak) 157 SVN 165 Messenbrink 174 Facundo or Haines 184 CS 197 Barr HW Kerk
  19. Haines over O’Toole. Will face Carr for 3rd. Keegan had a disappointing tournament.
  20. Carter is apparently coming back for #5. I wonder if Facundo considers transferring. Penn St. is clogged with talent.
  21. Starocci just announced he’s coming back. Does Facundo transfer?
  22. 18 individual national championships between the six of them. That has to be a record.
  23. I favor a healthy Yaz against Brooks, though I’m not sure we’ll see him in the Olympics. Brooks is an incredible wrestler, but frankly that was the worst DT we’ve seen in nearly a decade.
  24. Dake outclassed him last they wrestled. JB’s success against Dake is largely due to the old tournament design, where Dake had to wrestle multiple matches the same day. It’s not a coincidence that when they’ve been on even footing, Dake has been more successful.
