  1. Yes, this. Also, no way in hell Brooks or any other athlete would say "yeah, I'm in the middle of the appeal and I don't think it's looking good." Plus I ventured into the rules section of the anti-doping policy and he's got a few things going against him based on the possible ways to get a retroactive TUE applied, which sounds like he needs because he said he showed up and simply informed them that he was on it (indicates he's aware its a banned substance - removes ignorance claim): Emergency or urgent treatment exception - Vyvanse for school is not an emergency by any means. Insufficient time or exceptional circumstances preventing athlete from obtaining TUE - Brooks had been competing under UWW / USADA / WADA rules since at least his U17 days. Plenty of time and opportunity to get one. Don't start using the drug until you have one, dude. Due to national agencies not requiring TUEs - I believe NCAA and USA wrestling require these. Athlete is not considered an "international athlete" prior to testing - Brooks had been competing in U17s, U20s, U23 qualifying events for years, establishing him as an international athlete (I think), unless the break between U20s and U23s took him off the list. Substance is only prohibited out in-competition - not the case for Vyvanse. I'd be interested to hear what people more in-the-know have to say.
  2. Where's the news? Starting to get worried over here. I am also a little surprised people aren't more concerned about this... If you read WADA's rules for TUEs, and how AB described the situation in Basch's interview, it sounds like he would be unlikely to win an appeal. They have very clear rules and he simply didn't follow them.... Claiming ignorance is not a good excuse.
  3. Good points, he does seem to be overly worried about others' perspective of him and his performance than most athletes. Keeping him out of his head is gonna be the main task for Dan Dennis and the Brands.
  4. On FRL earlier, Pyles said the governing body overseeing the decision is WADA. Chael said that if WADA is overseeing it there is no way in hell he's wrestling. Not sure how well informed he actually is on the drug testing, but considering he took PEDs and had to navigate this landscape, he might not be bullshitting. Even so, it sounds like both Aaron and USA Wrestling are pretty confident he'll be good to go.
  5. I forgot about that and just watched the match where he beat Nato, then his interview... 1:45 mark. Seems like he left it all up to Tom and Terry. Q: How much international wrestling will you do? Spencer: As much as I'm told to do Q: You have no idea? Spencer: Nope! Q: Who's calling those shots? Spencer: Tom and Terry Brands! https://www.flowrestling.org/events/6570901-2019-senior-nationals-us-olympic-trials-qualifier/videos?playing=6626648
  6. I just don't get it... If he's "beating the crap" out of the Olympic rep in the room (per Dan Dennis), why the hell would he not want to at least kick the tires on the freestyle scene?
  7. And not to hate on Iowa, but if Spencer was this freaking good already, seems they kinda botched a sure thing. Almost criminal to prioritize his college career over world and Olympic medals. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I'm with you, time for a nice Oklahoma BBQ. Plus he's got some goats named after Cael and Cody, can't have Cael the Goat living in stillwater. How fitting would it be to roast him and Cody up for the Cowboy wrestlers?
  9. Zain's guaranteed blood times per match kinda hurt him imo, especially against somebody like Musakaev. I'd like to say he medals but 65kg is just so damn hard to predict. Kind of off topic but why do sports like UFC allow for blood to literally be dripping into other fighter's mouths but for wrestling we stop the match at a single drop?
  10. Dan Dennis touches on Spencer's strength in this interview. Says it's equivalent to wrestling a 165lber. He also said that Spencer was whooping his butt even when Dennis was on the Olympic team (and Spencer was in high school), he was that good. I think if Spencer wrestles to his ability, he can bring home the gold. His par terre was incredible this tourny.
  11. Just caught up on all the matches and hell yeah Zain. I didn't think he'd be able to run that gauntlet and make it, but he proved me wrong. Let's hope he can bring back some hardware in Paris, baby!!
  12. It is pretty incredible how these dudes just pile on muscle like nobody's business. Like Carter Starocci, he's supposedly doing a 23 lb jump next year. If this dude shows up with 23 lbs of extra muscle, there's no fkkn way he does it clean.
  13. I'm not super familiar with Basch but it really seemed like he was absolutely loving what dumb shit Brooks was saying and eating it all up, lol.
  14. Recently posted by AB.
  15. I had the same exact thoughts and not really sure. Maybe the new AD decided he'll put the Paycom dude's name on a building or something. I'm interested to see if they suddenly have a lot more money to throw around or if they're exaggerating it.
  16. His ram of the east video he posted has me thinking it's not as clear cut as he's making it out to be in the interview... Something seems to be weighing on his mind.
  17. Same takeaways I had from that portion as well. He just about insinuated that DT leaked the Adderall thing too. "it's funny how these things come out when someone loses, looking for excuses". I was also interested to hear how he said DT and his guys "manipulated the room" and had secret training sessions to get an edge on Brooks.
  18. Brooks stated himself that the doctors needed the Rx when he took the test but he clearly doesn't know the process for getting cleared to take PEDs properly. Either way, super irresponsible to not follow the TUE process and just showing up thinking it'll be fine and dandy. It sounds like he didn't even have a TUE until after he popped hot.
  19. Suggesting DT and his team's "hearts are hardened" and he hopes they find Jesus is just disrespectful af. He thinks the fact that he had a difficult path and got on the team is proof that God exists? C'mon dude. And then the kicker (paraphrasing) "I hope he actually wants to take the job and isn't doing it just to get the news of him losing to me out of the media". Brooks seems like a good kid, but he's a moron.
  20. Was Brooks insinuating that DT leaked his Vyvanse use to Mineo? I highly doubt DT would do that. Also, Brooks is a dumbass for not following the right process. "I was struggling in school so I got Vyvanse.." and he didn't even bring the Rx with him when he got tested. So irresponsible. Like Chael said, if WADA is overseeing it, he's probably screwed. There's reasons why these processes need to be followed, particularly cuz anyone and their mom can get a stimulant Rx with no real evidence of needing it. And finally, Brooks came across as an idiot once again in that interview with Basch on his comments regarding Taylor. Saying their hearts are truly hardened if they can't see God was at play when he won the spot. Dude, stfu and get over yourself.
  21. Idk, they said the Paycom guy brought out the big bucks and has committed to keeping the cash coming. The AD even said the Paycom dude gave them the jet to fly to Penn State. Might be some newer money.
  22. There is another video with him answering questions and he does say that Cael didn't want him to go but is happy for him. I expected Cael to encourage him to take it but not sure that was the case...
  23. Hahahah I deserve that and therefore will not edit it out.
  24. Well if that's the case, you won't be seeing me on Penn State, NC State, or OkState's team anytime soon. Their loss.
