Where have I said MM is a contender? I think his ceiling is 3rd this year. I’ve been pretty clear about that. 165 is insanely deep yet again. I think Mesenbrink will win multiple titles, yes, but not this year. And, guess what: Haines likely beat MM for the 157lb spot. They both certified below 165lbs, and Haines is the 157lb starter. Cael doesn’t play favorites. Please quote me on the “national team in high school” thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You failed to account for a certain U20 World Champ in the bracket. Unrelated, but Cunningham’s kid is coming on strong. I could see him being a 174-184 in college. Certainly chose the right parents. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Good point. But I’m guessing that’s a bit exaggerated. Let’s say he’s 315. He could easily drop 7-8lbs a week in December and clock in at 289 around the New Year. Certify, and he’s a week from wrestling at 285. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What? Kerk weighed in at 254.something for the Lehigh dual. He’s never clocked in at more than 260, IIRC. And, only times he’s ever been “light” were when he was coming back from a staph infection that hospitalized him, his freshman year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Shane Griffith: Carr, Joseph, O’Toole. He’ll get a crack at Starocci in the regular season, maybe at B1Gs, maybe at NCAAs. And, depending on draw, he might find Mekhi Lewis on his side of the NCAA bracket.
I think Kerk wins 10-4 or so. Davison isn’t on the level and wrestled a terrible match against Bastida. Not exactly a good measuring stick to compare him to Kerk. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It’s the worst thing about freestyle. When I saw that happen to Gilman at Worlds two years ago I thought, “Oh, he dodged that bullet. Landed on his knees.” NOPE. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Opening dual weekend and usually around the first or second weekend of February, they look like crap. Then they come out and pistol whip everyone in January and March. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Agreed. I haven’t seen anything that suggests he beats Carr in folk. That said, the signs I’ve seen so far are very, very positive. He’ll see three top 10 guys right after the new year. That’ll show where he’s at. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
In his post match interview for the Ridge Riley award, Starocci called Mesenbrink a “psycho” on the practice mat. He meant it as a compliment. Context: Truax and Mesenbrink as practice partners. Carter has wrestled all of the above many times. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just watched Mesenbrink’s match. That kid is a terror. PSU kids generally have good motors. But Mesenbrink is going at a rate that most can’t match for a period, let alone the entire match. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
