  1. If I were Bartlett, I would’ve ducked. But he’s got honor.
  2. D1 wrestling is hard on the body and wrestling fewer matches helps. That said, it would be better for fans to have interesting in-season tournaments. Anyway, I favor what’s best for the wrestlers.
  3. No idea. But it seems like PSU has had starters sit out here and there last month; wrestling at Iowa is pretty demanding travel wise; and they can afford to sit a starter or two.
  4. I think we might see a few backups wrestle, particularly on PSU’s side.
  5. OT could feature a smaller circle and push outs. Or, instead of OT, tied marches could be decided by criteria. Personally I like criteria.
  6. Talk as much as you want, if you think talking is fun. But perspective is important.
  7. There are controversial and bad calls in every sport at every level. It’s a good reason to not put too much stock on the results of what is — in the end — a game. Try going outside, or learning a new skill, or reconnecting with your wives, or finally going to therapy.
  8. I’ve suspected for a while that the SEC and Big Ten might withdraw from the NCAA and form their own organization for the purposes of football. They’d essentially have a mini NFL. Not sure what such a potential move might mean for other sports.
  9. There were no world champions in 2020 because of COVID. Olympics got pushed back a year. I can only assume that they'll resume Olympic-year world championships for non-Olympic weights.
  10. I don't see why PSU would redshirt anybody next year given all the talent they have coming in. Lilledahl, Gibson, Sealey, Ryder, the Mirasolas. Plus they have Barr looking tough.
  11. If I were Starocci — and I’m definitely not — I’d just go for a world gold at 79kg this year. World champ sounds good to everyone.
  12. Excuse my ignorance, but I thought KOT was headed for his fourth postseason. Has he said whether he’ll go for a fifth?
  13. Here are mine: 125- Ramos 133- Vito 141- Mendez 149- Gomez 157- Cardenas 165- Mesenbrink 174- Starocci 184- Keckeisen 197- Brooks 285- Kerkvliet
  14. Top contenders at this point in the season are (in no particular order): KOT (85% bonus) Brooks (100% bonus) Starocci (88% bonus) Fix (88% bonus) Hendrickson (88% bonus) Hidlay (88% bonus) Keckeisen (83% bonus)
  15. This is awkward because I named my son Jimmy Cinnabons.
  16. I guess so. I wonder if kids in the area will show up to see the famous PSU team as well.
  17. How is it possible for this dual to be sold out?
  18. You watched a coach during a wrestling match?
  19. Someone please explain the Ferrari situation to me in NBA terms.
  20. This is allegedly a picture of Robin Reed putting in the work:
  21. In terms of credentials, there are two GOATS. For the four-years-of-eligibility era, it's Sanderson. For the three-years-of-eligibility era, it's Uetake. Uetake went undefeated, was never tested (according to his coach), and won an Olympic title after his sophomore season. And if we were going to say there is only one GOAT, I think Uetake has a great argument for that distinction.
  22. Here are some Olympic champs who never won an NCAA title: Peter Mehringer '32 Olympic champ Henry Wittenberg '48 Olympic champ Shelby Wilson '60 Olympic champ John Peterson '76 Olympic champ Brandon Slay '00 Olympic champ
  23. Just to summarize, it seems like the candidates for best individual college + senior-level years are as follows: 2023 Arujau 2021 Steveson 2016 Snyder 2011 Burroughs 1999 Neal 1988 Smith 1987 Smith 1978 Kemp 1964 Uetake 1948 Glen Brand (NCAA champ + Olympic champ) 1924 Robin Reed (pre-NCAA AAU champ + Olympic champ)
  24. It’s just a list I quickly threw together. Don’t read anything into it.
  25. If MM trains with Dake, he probably has experience with being shut down.
