  1. Burroughs already said he'd coach a new UCLA or USC program. I'd love to see it.
  2. It looks like Oregon and Washington will be joining the Big Ten. It's all about the amount of money candidate schools can bring in, including TV revenue. Once Oregon and Washington join, there will be 18 schools in the Big Ten, with four on the west coast. I wonder if they might create or reshuffle the divisions within the Big Ten (depending on the sport) to accommodate the massive distances between schools. I'm guessing the Big Ten and the SEC are looking to expand even further. Who are the biggest fish left? I'm thinking Notre Dame, Clemson, Duke, UNC, ASU, and Stanford?
  3. Actually at 61kg I'll go with Vito vs. RBY (Mex).
  4. Which of these matches could Latin America win? 57- Richards vs. Cruz (PR) 61- Vito vs. Silva (PR) 65- Lee vs. Rivera (PR) 70- Zain vs. Destribats (Arg) 74- Dake vs. Anthony Valencia (Mex) 79- Chance vs. Jones (PR) 86- DT vs. Torreblanca (Cuba) 92- Macchiavello vs. Zahid (Mex) 97- Snyder vs. Silot (Cuba) 125- Gable vs. Diaz (Ven)
  5. It's reasonable to put Dake ahead of Taylor in the p4p list based on their head-to-head results. But as of now, I am more impressed with Taylor's freestyle resume. At 2018 and 2019 worlds, Dake's best win was against Hasanov. Then at 2021 and 2022 worlds, his best win was against Salkazanov. (In both 2021 and 2022, Sidakov and Kadzi were missing from the field.) Meanwhile, each time Taylor won gold, he had to beat Yazdani. Plus, Dake does not have an Olympic title while Taylor does.
  6. My opinion... Snyder- 1x Olympic champ, 3x world champ (8x world-level medalist) DT- 1x Olympic champ, 2x world champ (4x world-level medalist) Dake- 4x world champ (5x world-level medalist) Gable- 1x Olympic champ Cox- 2x world champ (6x medalist) Zain- 1x medalist Vito- I'm just impressed ok? Chance- Beat the returning gold medalist Nick Lee- Beat the returning silver medalist Richards- Beat the returning silver medalist
  7. Steveson is on a short list of wrestlers who won world or Olympic titles before their senior years. I think it’s only Uetake, Smith, Snyder, and Steveson.
  8. I think JB once tweeted that he’d be interested in coaching at USC or UCLA.
  9. Is there anything stopping our guys from training with the Cubans? Jaime Espinal of Puerto Rico was a cheerleader in college, and a breakdancer after college. Then he trained with the Cubans, and started winning medals, including an Olympic silver.
  10. I'd love to see more US-based wrestlers compete for other countries. Does anybody know of any elite college wrestlers who could qualify to represent another country? Matt Ramos maybe? Others?
  11. If Russia were not banned from worlds, it would be pretty awkward to have Kasabieva compete -- who appears to be based in Crimea.
  12. Franklin Gómez and Jaime Espinal both spent time in the states, both competed for Puerto Rico, and both won world-level silver medals.
  13. Mineo just tweeted "Looks like RBY will be joining Gomez!" What other US-based wrestlers compete for Mexico? Which US-based wrestlers should compete for Mexico? Personally I'd like to see Zahid rock the green, white, and red. (I assume he could become eligible because his brother competed for Mexico.)
  14. Which current MFS world team member is your favorite?
  15. Right. I was just wondering whether he had decided to come back for a fifth bite at the apple.
  16. Very impressive how he beat returning world silver medalist Yianni 2-0. I think he has actually has potential to do better than Gable Steveson (also Indiana born) this year in international competition.
  17. Is Fix coming back next year? He's already had four NCAA tournaments. (Lewis has had four NCAA tournaments as well, except he was legit injured at 2021 NCAAs.)
  18. The biggest events for many US wrestling fans are (1) the NCAA tournament; (2) the Big Ten tournament; (3) Final X; (4) OTTs; (5) worlds; and (6) the Olympics. But as far as I know, Flo only carries two of those events: Final X and worlds. That means that even if you have a yearly Flo subscription, you still have to make other arrangements to watch (1) the NCAA tournament; (2) the Big Ten tournament; (3) OTTs; and (4) the Olympics. And of the big events I listed, the only unique service Flo offers is broadcasting Final X. When it comes to worlds, Flo is merely taking the UWW's feed -- which is free in most countries -- and then requiring US customers to pay to watch that feed. Basically, if Flo is charging $150 per year, it is hard for me to understand how that is a good deal.
  19. I'm a big JB fan -- so it's pains me to say it -- but it looks like we may have seen the last of him at the world/Olympic stage. JB will be 35 in a month; he has four kids; and he's been up at 79kg since 2021. To make the 2024 Olympic team he'll have to get down to 74kg, and then get through Dake and others. Really hard to see that happening right now. Father time may well have finally caught JB for good. Super sad, but that's how sports go.
  20. How do you feel about Flo?
  21. Cornell has the Ag School.
  22. I saw something about it online. Not sure I trust the information just yet.
  23. Marsteller will get a rematch against Burroughs at Final X on June 10. Last year Burroughs beat Marsteller two matches to one (4-0, 2-2, 5-0). Who do you think will win this time around, and in how many matches? I love Burroughs, but dude is about to turn 35, and Marsteller is tough. Makes me nervous. Should be a fun one!
  24. 57- Gilman 61- Vito 65- Yianni 70- Zain 76- Dake 79- JB 86- DT 92- Little Macc 97- Snyder 125- Gable
