  1. This is a cultural issue, this is a direct result of leftist thinking. The reality is democrats should be prohibited from owning guns because they are the ones doing the mass shooting.
  2. You have difficulty analyzing data. That was my exact point, except I can site enough anecdotal evidence to create a trend. The numbers are clearly on the side of defensive gun use, and the Heritage foundation is quoting the CDC.
  3. There are people who don't need to be comforted because of the second amendment. So for every victim you parade on the are multiple people who would have been but weren't.
  4. https://datavisualizations.heritage.org/firearms/defensive-gun-uses-in-the-us/ According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, almost every major study on defensive gun use has found that Americans use their firearms defensively between 500,000 and 3 million times each year. There’s good reason to believe that most defensive gun uses are never reported to law enforcement, much less picked up by local or national media outlets.
  5. A 36-year-old man allegedly broke into a home in Edinburg, Texas, the evening of Oct. 25, 2022, through the garage, and then tried to get into the locked bedroom in which the homeowner and her children had retreated. The homeowner warned the intruder that she had called police and that she had a gun. However, the man reportedly continued trying to get into the bedroom. The homeowner shot through the door once, whereupon the man fled. Police located him about 100 yards away in a field. They took him to be treated for the gunshot wound in his left arm and charged him with burglary of habitation with intent. 6. On Dec. 11, 2022, a masked man entered a wings restaurant in Warner Robins, Ga., demanding money at gunpoint. The robber then jumped over the counter and struck an employee with the gun. The worker, however, pulled his own legally owned pistol and fired at his attacker, striking him twice. The assailant fled, but police soon located him and transported him to the hospital, where he died of his wounds. (Fox News, New York, N.Y., 12/11/2022)
  7. The morning of Dec. 14, 2022, a 29-year-old man with “jealousy issues” showed up at an Amazon warehouse where his girlfriend worked, allegedly seeking to threaten or harm a male coworker of hers. He was attempting to get into the rear entrance when another employee, who reportedly didn’t recognize the man and thought he was acting strangely, confronted him and tried to get him to leave. The man shot at this employee several times. A third man, witnessing the attack and armed with his own gun, came to the victim’s defense, shooting the assailant and stopping the attack. Police said the suspect died from a combination of the armed citizen’s shots and from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. They also confirmed they are not investigating the armed citizen, calling him a good Samaritan. (bizpacreview.com, Arlington, Va., 12/17/2022)
  8. Residents in St. Charles, Mich., called police around 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 25, 2022, to report a “disorderly” man jumping on a car and yelling. However, before officers arrived, the man allegedly broke into a nearby home occupied by a 41-year-old woman and two children. Two neighbors who were concealed-carry-license holders rushed to the family’s aid and detained the crazed man at gunpoint. Police praised the neighbors’ intervention and said the home invader appeared to be under the influence of drugs. He was to be charged with home invasion and malicious destruction of property. 9. A man in Chicago, Ill., was seated in his truck at nearly 6 a.m. on Dec. 5, 2022, smoking a cigarette with his window down, when a dark sedan pulled up next to him and two males got out while two remained in the vehicle. One man allegedly pointed a .45-cal. pistol with an extended magazine at his intended victim’s head while demanding property, but the man fought back, grabbing the gun. The assailant called out for help from the others with him, at which point the armed citizen in the truck pulled out his own firearm and fired three rounds. He struck two of the males in their shoulders and one in the temple. The driver of the crime vehicle sped off despite his head wound, but struck a fence, breaking the passenger’s leg in the wreck. Three of the perpetrators were charged with attempted robbery, while the fourth was still in the hospital. The vehicle was found to have been used in other robberies in the area as well. 10. On Dec. 13, 2022, in Eastpointe, Mich., an unreported number of suspects allegedly approached the driver of a Dodge Charger Hellcat and attempted a carjacking, whereupon a shootout occurred between the assailants and the Hellcat’s driver, who was a concealed-pistol license holder. One of the suspects—a 27-year-old man—was wounded before driving away in a stolen Chevy Impala. He later showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, but left before authorities could arrive. Police officers and special investigators were able to track the stolen Impala to a home, where they then witnessed the suspect driving it away. Authorities were able to arrest the suspect without incident. During the execution of a search warrant, authorities found evidence of the attempted carjacking inside the stolen vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody and charged with assault with intent to murder and felony firearm possession, with a bond set at $750,000 with GPS monitoring. 11. On the evening of Jan. 3, authorities were called to a residence in Merced, Calif., responding to reports of an assault. A homeowner found a man sitting in a vehicle that was stuck in the mud on his property. The property owner tried to help the stranded driver get unstuck, when suddenly the stranger became angry and grabbed an axe from the trunk of his vehicle. According to officials with the sheriff’s office, the driver allegedly began swinging the axe in a threatening way and the property owner, who is a concealed-carry permit holder, shot the axe-wielding man in self-defense. Upon arrival, deputies assisted the assailant, who had a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, until the paramedics arrived. (yourcentralvalley.com, Fresno, Calif., 1/3/23)
  12. A 22-year-old man in Philadelphia, Pa., allegedly engaged in a violent two-day crime spree, starting with carjacking a man at gunpoint around 8 p.m. on Dec. 4, 2022, then invading a retired couple’s home around midnight and shooting one of them in the leg and another in the face. The perpetrator then traveled about 10 miles and robbed a gas station convenience store around 2 a.m., and attempted to rob another one around 4 a.m. The store’s security video shows that, when the masked assailant pointed his firearm at the clerk, the clerk, who already had his gun ready due to the mask, fired at him, whereupon the suspect fled. The store clerk’s brother told reporters, “He said he was definitely scared, but something told him that he had to take action because he either did that or something worse could’ve happened.” (Fox29, Philadelphia, Pa., 12/5/2022)
