    Why doesn’t anybody offer Askren a job? Seems he’d have a line on recruiting.

    I’ll hate it if VV leaves, but I don’t know what’s going on in the room. As for Williams, it’s said that if he can funnel all, or most, of his attention on wrestling he’s real good. But sometimes he gets off track.

    That works pretty good usually. But haven’t I heard that Alvarez has had issues with making that weight? And though Williams didn’t perform as well as VV at the Scuffle, he’s expected to do better with a little experience under his belt. He was good in high school, but it seems to me it was at a little heavier weight.

    WS is showing Williams as the starter now but it could be Alvarez at 149 next year. VV showed some promise, but I don’t think little brother was competing at OSU level. Find out in November.

    Isn’t that going on already? I was trying to make the point that if he’s going to the highest bidder, then that could be a bid to stay where he is.

    He’s got a match that prevents him from making it. That money can be offered to stay as well as transfer.

    No. I’m saying Elmer is a good wrestler after two seasons at XSU and he enters the portal. It is possible for a businessman from the city XSU is in to say “if you show up at my place on a certain day next winter and sign autographs, there’ll be money in it for you.” Kid knows that if he transfers away he can’t make that commitment.

    That’s my understanding as well, but we also can see how it’s actually working. If the local dealership/outlet offers money to appear and sign autographs, it’s pretty easy to understand that this won’t be available if you’re not in the area.

    The way I understand it, NIL can be raised or offered to any athlete at any time. So any of the interested parties of the current school could offer NIL to match or better what is available to the athlete if he transfers.

    I don’t know about now, but 9th grade used to be a different division than high school in Oklahoma. Occasionally, like if the high school didn’t have anybody at a certain weight, a 9th grader could wrestle up, but it didn’t happen very often. City high schools didn’t include 9th grade, but most rural schools did.
