  1. Ryder asks Taylor if the Arnold shot counter was reaction time. Taylor goes, "I think so, I think so" in a tone that says, "No, but I hope they call it that way". Taylor is going to be a great coach. He may come from the Sanderson tree, but he has a very different personality and style. What they do have in common is a champion's mentality. OSU will be the heavy favorite for 2nd place next year and will be in range in 2028 based on my recruit/ncaa points analysis.
  2. Curious, what is the process for the at-large selections? Who decides?
  3. The two screen captures are from two different years. Both ended in falls in the last minute. The first match had Haines an inch away from getting pinned.
  4. Takedown. Arnold completed the takedown, then Ryder went through a not very fast reach back to get the whizzer. I would say his reaction failed and it really took a second attempt to get to the whizzer.
  5. I don't believe you. Nobody believes you. I've been on this board for maybe 6 months. Your posts reveal a very deep seated hatred of Penn State. You live for schadenfreude. The McHenry post probably gave you the first chubby since the Bartlett/Strarocci posts. You have been stewing ever since because Strarocci isn't doing 25 to life for statutory rape of an adult and grand theft. You were dumfounded that "Carl" wasn't dispatched like Paterno for knowing and covering up all the felonious activities. Here we are with a <1 minute rant that is fuzzy on specifics. Questioning anything in this case is now the equivalent of shaming the rape accuser (versus questioning what actually happened). You will now respond to my and every other post in order to keep this thread alive.
  6. We had the thread on favorite stallers. Some are good at it, McGowan is not. When you go down to one knee AND back up into out of bounds, you might get whistled.....often.
  7. Saw it yesterday. Pretty good video. Is that what wrestlers eat leading up to matches these days?
  8. That was my take after seeing the review. It was Sasso's own doing if he got taken down after the escaped.
  9. Greg Warren. I went to his camp. Will Lewan. He absolutely did nothing for 6:30, then took set up for his one shot.
  10. I too use to believe parity is good for the sport, any sport, but it just isn't true. A dominant star or team actually elevates the sport. Tiger Woods increased the value of the PGA tour while winning 33% of tournaments entered. Just look at wrestling attendance at away venues for Penn State. People who don't go to matches show up to see the dynastic team. Iowa vs. Penn State will always fill the house, but PSU at Lehigh or Oregon State fills a house that is never full. When I was at PSU four decades ago, the biggest Rec Hall crowd ever was PSU vs. UCLA. It was #1 against #2 in Women's Gymnastics. Basketball was at Rec Hall and never filled the stands.
  11. May be a bit trivial, but Olivieri at #3 at 141. Undefeated at 13-0. But, four of those are at Bloomsburg Open, his last time on the mat at on 1/24. His last dual was 12/7. His B1G record is 0-0. Two top-33 wins. Two of Vombaur's four losses were to Mendez.
  12. No, which is why Hardy is the better man.
  13. When playing the red shirt scenario, one has to consider 2028 Olympics. Guys with true Olympic aspirations may want to use just one RS during that season, or maybe 2 RS seasons in a row? Too many scenarios to bother with.
  14. He was gassed because he was wrestling Antrell Taylor and Cam Catrabone and needed all 7 minutes to win and 10 minutes to lose. If he needs a break before B1G, then he can skip Princeton.
  15. So, there are 28, with 6 going down at conference championships. Potential 22 undefeated wrestlers. That's a lot.
  16. Being the better man....
  17. I would give edge to Bouzakis. I think the strategy for LL is to stay on his feet the whole match. Forget riding time. It will have no meaning. Avoid Bouzakis' strength which is reversals and the big move. TD, release. Neutral to start 2nd or 3rd.
  18. I think it will be a draw.
  19. It's a logical take if you firmly believe: 1) It's a certainty that tOSU will lose, and 2) the difference in seeding from #1 or #2 won't make any difference. The dual is clearly less important than Big Tens, as Big Tens will greatly impact selection and seeding for NCAAs. I expect we will not see Cannon for the dual, but see him at Big Tens. Imagine Kilkeary loses and Davino, Mendez, Kharchla, Fisback, and Feldman win. Gulp, oh what could have been.
  20. Good analogy. It may be even a bigger sacrifice for Desmond than Bartlett.
  21. The previous article doesn't mean the data used for the newer was normalized for the change in TD points, nor does indicate that the data have been normalized for bonus score differences based upon TD point change, a monumental task, which was my point. There may have been other rule changes during the sample time period that would also cause a data adjustment. Nor does it impact the primary point of my post that using the model to generate simulations would likely result in 1) highest seeds underperforming more often, while lower seeds overperforming (vs. chalk) and 2) a more accurate prediction than the chalk.
  22. Nothing. After a year of no near falls because everyone gets cut loose after a TD out of fear of giving up a 102 pt. reversal, there would be no near falls. The only near falls would be on TDs straight to near fall. Then the next year (2 years after the implentation of the 102 point TD) I would lobby for the 102, 103, and 104 point near falls in order to get more mat wrestling.
  23. The year after the implementation of the 102 pt. takedown, I will lobbying for the 102 point reversal. This is really going to mess up WrestleKnowNothing's model.
  24. Curious, what do you think Ryan's priority is, PSU dual or B1G? Seems like the B1Gs. If they get tweaked again in the dual and can't wrestle B1G at all would be more detrimental versus eking out a win and then MFF two at B1G. With Stiles and Cannon, tOSU would be favorite, w/o them leans Iowa. OSU is the team with the big upside.
  25. Your expected value would be 4, almost 5 champions. I think your numbers are optimistic. Lilledahl would only be 50% against Bouzakis alone. I would go with 2 champs, 2 seconds and 4 other AAs.
