  1. We thinking Swiderski redshirts for 157 in 24-25 and Ech holds the spot for Johnson?
  2. Legit just the administration. No effect on athletes and their coaches.
  3. UWW suspends India's wrestling federation... https://uww.org/article/wrestling-federation-india-provisionally-suspended?fbclid=IwAR1JvCDoDP8VqVkHzBgwB181OZZww1XXx7cmijBjcNlPH3fpS6_q3n1F-Fc
  4. Pretty sure we all sort of agreed on this around tourney time as well? I know it came up.
  5. Where did I ever say he was beating any of them? Also, doesn't Jordan have high school shit left to do? Why are you dogging on a 16 year old?
  6. On the surface that does seem a bit off, I agree. Did Kaylor get pinned a time or three towards the end of the season?
  7. To be fair, neither have wrestled many. McHenry has wrestled an average of 4.5 matches per season in the four previous years and Howard an average of 4.3 in his three previous years.

HFS I am for it... this sucks for Stanford, though.
  9. Again... if he is healthy. That is a 'need to see' to believe scenario for me and it should be for anybody who is a fan of NCAA D1 wrestling. All of this said, in their limited action (McHenry and Howard) they have earned themselves a rating of #28 (Howard) and #32 (McHenry), respectively. Those are off results that happened. As I said from the start, they are comparable. That was all. There was no reason for you to get all uppity about it, even if he is a Juzzy Boi.
  10. This is a complete unknown. He is a tough wrestler when not healthy. He has established that. He hasn't been healthy in the better part of a decade. That is significant when talking about someone who is barely older than twenty.
  11. Potato, Tomato. A duck is a duck and you have done nothing to convince me otherwise, regardless of what case you are trying to make. Everyone knew I meant Robert even if I made the mistake of saying Ryan. He started and did what? They are both 0.500 against common opponents in Heinselman and Medley. McHenry holds a 12-6 all-time collegiate record where Howard holds a 7-6 all-time collegiate record. They are comparable. The biggest IF in this entire scenario is IF Howard is healthy. It could easily be argued that because of McHenry's lack of size and comparable results that he is a better wrestler. I won't make that argument. I will simply state that they are on the same level due to their actual results right now. I have high hopes for Davis, although I think he may never see 125. That should be taken with a grain of sand. Using any of the four true frosh down around that weight would be more apt, I think. As far as Steen goes? If Howard is injured (still)... which he has spent more time injured than he hasn't... and McHenry doesn't adjust well to the room... I think there is action to be had there. I do agree though, that if Howard is healthy he is the clear option now. They wouldn't have brought in McHenry if he was the clear option, though... I assume.
  12. Semantics at this point. Of which we are allowed to disagree.
  13. A free year is a year in which they are allowed to develop while not eating up any of their eligibility clock. Greyshirt, Oly-shirt, deferred enrollment, etc. Those all count as free years when you look at the grand scope of things in regards to development. They were given a free year of it without eating up eligibility. I am okay with gents getting a 6th year if they had some sort of serious injury that would have prevented them from competing when it mattered most. I would have even been okay with Spencer being given an injury redshirt the year he tore his ACL in the B1G finals, despite him winning NCAAs. Those make sense to me.
  14. Penn State while Haines redshirts? HAHAHAHA
  15. Josh Humphreys is in the portal for Lehigh as a Grad Transfer after being granted another year.
  16. I think your take is much more realistic than mine. Mine is a 'If they focus purely on OTT as a priorty' sort of thing. They would still easily win the title, too.
  17. I think he cares about having fun and setting up for the NLWC to dominate OTT. That makes me on the fence at 50/50 for Stalrocci. If he believes 74 KG is his for the taking, he needs to take the next many months properly preparing for a decent, or already doing so. Hell... even a drop to 165 would better prepare him for that than wrestling an entire season depleted at 174 with the entirety of NCAA D1 wrestlers targeting you and your 'style' of wrestling. He needs to feel that weight before OTT. If he thinks he can give Dake all he can handle because his 185lb self is giving Dake a handful, he needs to understand what a 170lb Stalrocci performs at. I also think many of the other gents will be focusing on that so we could see some what appear to be 'depleted' rosters if there are large international events that his gents want to taste. In my perfect world, because I believe a better Penn State is better for USA Wrestling, that means that they do put a primary focus on OTT for everyone. 125 - Howard, McHenry, Sheen, Davis (other frosh) - Wrestler by committee. Let the best wrestler wrestle, period. If a true frosh comes in and blows everyone out of the water... let him go. 133 - Nagao - Easy one here 141 - Bartlett - Easy one here 149 - SVN - Easy one here, although I don't know what that means for a 65 KG freestyle for him... I am all for it, but he has grown. 157 - Bearclaw, Lee, Lee - Let Haines (Oly?)-shirt. 165 - Stalrocci - Mesenbrink and Facundo Oly-shirt 174 - Barr - He can redshirt next season 184 - Truax - I think the NCAA champion will come from one of him, PK, or Munoz. Whoever is opposite the other two at NCAAs will have a huge advantage. 197 - Brooks - Thicc Brooks is going to be lethal come OTT. 285 - Kerkvliet - I have him as #1 even if some people want to forget that the American Hero lost to him at NCAAs last season. NLWC is going to be potentially jacked at 74 KG and not all will qualify, but... Dake, Stalrocci, Nolf, Mesenbring, Facundo, Haines, (? Barr, Kasak ?). Add in former NLWC gent in Joseph and it gets 'fun-fun' real quick. Even with a 'depleted' lineup sans Haines/Facundo/Mesenbrink and Stalrocci dropping these guys run away with it upwards towards 150 points.
  18. Hey now. Someone got shit on for saying that it made sense for a guy from two weight classes down move up last season. Same guy also wants it to happen with Caliendo as well. He is less crazy for that?
  19. Kurt McHenry has a legitimate chance to start for them this season. Ryan Howard has done nothing that should convince anyone otherwise. Also incoming true frosh Braeden Davis (really any of their four lightweight true frosh) as well as incumbent starter Gary Steen are both well in the conversation to be the starter by season's end. If they have a hole, it is at 125lbs.
  20. Negatory Batman. I am already reaping my winnings. No takesies-backsies.
  21. Swafford isn't that large. They basically have three 165lbers there and I think Caliendo at 184 gives them their best peak performances.
  22. I want this... 165 - Kennedy 174 - Swafford 184 - Caliendo
  23. You legitimately just explained how I was correct. Thank you.
  24. Um... Dean got a free year. I wonder how that could be possible. It is as if there is or was some sort of loophole?
