Japan with a wide outside sweep attempt from WAAAAY outside and it goes nowhere with 2M10S to go. Japan has a Desanto grip on Moran's right elbow that he doesn't like. Looks like both have been called for action with 1M45S to go. Someone is going to go on the clock soon. Japan with a single, Moran reaches for a leg... on the edge... grounded. 1M10S to go, Japan up 2-0. Japan with a deeeep single... stuff by Moran... 40S to go. Called up at 35S. Still 2-0 Japan. Do we see a sprint? Japan just keeps getting a grip on that right elbow/tricep. Moran doesn't really have a response for it. 10S to go. Japan with the win, 2-0.

The Jap channeling his inner ThugMassa G with a head in the hole attempt (2x) early. Moran has a noticeable strength advantage here (early), but Japan is longer and faster. Gets in deep twice. 2nd time they let it go for a solid 25 seconds before calling it up. Surprised it wasn't called up sooner. 60S remaining in the first, Moran down 2-0. A lot of just dancing around, patting at the head, and nothingness from both sides for the last 45S. Moran Down 2-0 at the break.

Moran would give Marky Mark a run for his money his head-to-body size ratio. Probably beats him comfortably, actually.

Jacob Moran (Indiana, Puerto Rico) is one match before Hardy on Mat A.

He has Shamsat Tair of Kazakhstan, who is a full-sized, young 79 KG. Even with a full tank, I don't know if I would give Sato much of a chance. I also didn't think he was going to give Plott the fits he just gave him.

I forgot about Chlebove. Looks like he got beat up pretty good.

This is going to end up being one of those old Metcalf international matches. Plott just destroyed Sato's gas tank. Sato will lose his next match.

The Jap didn't even try to wrestle the entire match. That is embarrassing.

Both of them are sucking wind hard with 90 seconds to go. Sato just on the bike, though. Pedal, pedal, pedal. Trying to not give up points rather than wrestling.

Japan just isn't trying anything here... and it isn't really his fault. Plott isn't giving him an inch to breath (or 2.54 centimeters for you uncultured folk).

Plott is considerably more cut here... a good amount taller... he looks a solid weight class(+) bigger. I think it will wear on Sato. Plott is pushing the pace and Sato is just... not.

57 KG - Flynn has an Armenian that took Bronze two years ago at the same tournament... he also holds a 6-3 victory over Lehigh's (Puerto Rico's) Darian Cruz. Jacob Moran (Indiana/Puerto Rico) has Tatsuya Tsukaoka (Japan) in his R16 match. Can't find anything on the guy with a quick search. 65 KG - As seen above, Brock Hardy (Nebraska) beat Sammy Alvarez (Rutgers/OSU, Puerto Rico) in the first round via 12-7 Decision. Sammy was up 4-2 after the first and gave two four (4) pointers in the second period including one in the last thirty seconds or so. Hardy has a Ukrainian in Artem Kryvenko next. Guy has been at U17s six years ago as well as Euro U23s, but hasn't really won anything. Alvarez is obviously hoping to get pulled back in. 70 KG - Noah Castillo (Chattanooga, Puerto Rico) went one and done - lost to a German who lost his next match. He is done. Zapf has wrestled two tough matches already and has Kyrgyzstan's Orozobek Toktomambetov next in his QF. He wrestled the Irani Emami tough (7-2) at the Asian Games en route to a Bronze at 74 KG there. Prior to that he has been bringing home medals (including Golds) at the U23 Asian circuit for years. This is a match. 79 KG - Plott has Masaki Sato of Japan here in a few minutes. He was Japan's senior representative for the 2021 Worlds at 74 KG. He also dominated Carson Manville at 65 KG at the 2018 U17s. Aside for that he hasn't really had any results since. Should be a good match. (this may be done by the time I click 'enter' below) 97 KG - Trumble has Oktay Ciftci, a Turk, in his next QF match. Guy is coming off a U23 Euros Silver performance, but aside for that doesn't have a whole lot of international success/experience.

Zapf is crazy tough freestyle... kind of came out of nowhere. Didn't he beat Sasso in the Open last year?

If you watch the match it looks like the knee that he has a pad on is quite stiff. Curious if that is me overthinking it or what...

61 KG - Chlebove pulled back in. Russo he lost to won easily 10-0 in a first period Tech. Has Mezhlum Mezhlumyan of Armenia in Round 1 of Repechage for the right to face Ivan Hramyka of Belarus in the Bronze match. Chlebove is the only one who has shown a sign of life against the Russo so far. I like his odds to make the Bronze medal match. 74 KG - O'Toole pins the Tar Heel with relative ease. Up 4-0 at the break and pins him to start the second period. O'Toole has Imam Ganishov, a Russo, in the finals. Ganishov was a U17 world Bronze at 54 KG in 2017. O'Toole was still in diapers then, but I like his odds to win here. 86 KG - Brooks up 5-3, givesup a C1 for negative wrestling. Wins 5-4 over Russo's #1, Bagaev. He now has Tatsuya Shirai of Japan in the finals. Shirai beat Hidlay in last years U23 finals via 3-3 Decision. 92 KG - Cardenas is pulled back in and will face Satoshi Miura of Japan in Round 1 of Repechage. Not much about him is easy to be found aside for him being primarily a Greco guy in the past. Winner faces Pruthviraj Babasaheb of India for Bronze. Guy has been wrestling everywhere for India this year, has a past 12-2 loss to Rocky Elam at U17 in 2021 via 12-2 Tech. It will be a match. 125 KG - Hendrickson beat the Greek and will face Adil Misirci, a Turk. Has been on the circuit a while, but never has really made that next step. I do think he is better than Khosonov and that was a tough on for Hendrickson. Misirci beat Catca at U17s in 2019 via 7-4 Decision at 110 KG. I think three golds and two bronze are well within reach.
