I’m pretty close to age with JB , I met him for the first time in high school warming up for states ,I’ve literally rooted for him (and other NJ guys) his entire career. I’m going to continue to root for him til he leaves those ugly shoes on the mat, all that being said I still think JB the person is a narcissist, it’s not personal he’s just loves JB some JB and I call that out when I see it and it annoys me how people act like he can do no wrong

Impossible, he ll never make another Olympic team and lacks the Olympic medals to be the “goat”

I could lean either Bruce or John depending what criteria you want to lean towards more …John for winning 6 straight with 2 Olympic golds that’s the most dominating stretch in us history ..or Bruce for longevity, making so many teams , accumulating 13 medals ,including 4 Olympic medals including gold. And for the record I’d have JB at 3rd I honestly think he hurt his legacy but wrestling into his 30s , losing his weight class to Dake 2 Olympic cycles ago and dropping matches to atleast 4 different Americans in that time frame

If you want to talk about competition let’s talk about JBs competition for his titles at 79kg , definitely not the toughest thats his past 2 WT and I know he just made the team this year but I’m old enough to remember everyone saying Logan Steibers title wasnt legit bc it was an Olympic year WT

Middle of wrestling country you mean and the schools only D1 sport , 2 hrs or less from NJ , an hr or so from Lehigh valley , and I’ve seen it implied a rich donor came in fixed the $$ issues maybe @Husker_Du has more clarity .it also has a very high acceptance rate compared to Davidson which has low acceptance numbers . In 2013 Bloom went 17-3 under Stutz and finished the year ranked #11 in the country with wins over #12 Pitt #15 Edinboro #20 Maryland and Arizona State so he knows what can be accomplished there opposed to Davidson who have never been good.

Bloom was aggressively going after Michael Kemmerer and they were waiting awhile on a decision so when he declined this week they quickly pivioted to choice number Stutzman ,who obviously is going to take the head coaching job at school he’s had success over being an asst. at one of the worst schools in the country

I see a lot of holier than thou takes on Williams , a lot of grown ass adults judging this kid but the reality is the kids father is in prison , his mother isn’t in his life and he doesn’t have much guidance , Coleman Scott and his wife were his support system last year and checked on him daily to try and keep him in line then after one year at school his support system is gone , I would bet 95 percent of you have no idea what’s it’s like to be 18 and have no parents to help you and no support system ( nevermind while wrestling D1 at one of the most prestigious programs in the sport) ,save your judgements and just hope this young man finds a place where he can get it right because the talent is there and he’s a great kid overall

You weren’t really wrong , wrestling wise Kyle and JB were close to equals but JB has that special killer instinct that you are either born with or not , and probably because of that killer instinct (the mamba mentality for you BBall fans) he became the most clutch wrestler in USA history. The main difference between JB and these other guys is how many times did JB score in last second to snatch jaws from the defeat while these other guys lose those matches like regular mortals

You make a good point about parris , but geno is always on a different level come Olympic time compared to off years , honestly I think gable could take his shoulder pads off and still bonus parris right now , he’s just not on the level of the top guys yet

Spencer Lee made his first world team with an arthritic knee and had like 3-4 different surgeries on said knees and was wrestling in his first real international competition since U 20s in 2016 and took 2nd …at the damn Olympics Brooks just finished college 2 months ago, knocks off DT , loses by one in the final seconds to a man with a lot more experience (and an Olympic champ) and comes back and takes bronze AT THE OLYMPICS as far as Dake goes , he lost his father this year , the man whose taken this entire journey with him his whole life , all reverse age jokes aside he’s 33/34 and slowing down and even the last time he won 74kg (2022) his last 2 matches came down to criteria so this notion he was the overwhelming favorite is wild , I mean he got teched at the last Olympics by a guy most fans hadn’t even heard of, he was in the conversation for gold but only good ole American homers thought he would run through the bracket. Parris just isn’t on the level and didn’t have any previous results that showed him as a true medal contender, his tournament and path to the podium always was dependent on match ups and how the bracket fell and it didn’t fall his way As For Zain most thought he wouldn’t place at the last chance qualifier , we didn’t even qualify the weight last Olympics and had the worst possible match up first round for him so if we get anything from 65 its a positive I don’t see how this is underperforming, this is the pinnacle of the sport and we had no returning champs to begin with , you as an individual can be disappointed but as a whole team USA hasn’t disappointed

I swear the Olympics bring out the worst and most arrogant of our fan base, the fact that it seems so many people thought we were going to just run through everyone bc the Russia team isn’t here is crazy just for starters …but the hate I’ve seen towards Parris, Dake, Zain and especially Brooks is embarrassing. This is the Olympics ,the pinnacle of the sport , you have the best guys from around the world living out something they ve been dreaming aboutand sacrificing for more then half their lives but that doesn’t stop the fat guy who never placed in districts from sitting on the couch and talking shit. ive seen about a dozen posts (about 6 from mineo) about how disappointing this Olympic run has been….we still have a chance at medaling 5 out of 6 in men’s freestyle (most likely 4) and we had 4 new guys on the team with no Olympic experience and barely any senior level experience and we re still doing pretty well I feel brooks has gotten the most crap but in reality he just graduated college , went to the Olympics and lost in the final second by 1 to the Olympic champ and came back and medaled and you think he went 0-2 BBQ
