  1. Shapiro has his issues for sure, but in watching the match, clearly he is suffering from head injuries. This is really sad because once it happens, it is very unlikely to be reversed. The only one to overcome that I am aware of is Helen Maroulis. She had to step away, get some type of special treatment and seems to have recovered quite nicely.
  2. I’m quite certain he will compete for a spot. Anyone around the program and RTC knows that he practices. How effective when it’s time to make weight and compete is not known.
  3. Anyone have a read on Iowa wrestle offs? When are they and any insight around 125, 165, 174 and 184?
  4. I’m not sold on Duke just yet but he keeps proving me wrong. I don’t think we have enough appreciation for Blaze just yet. It’s probably because his style is so defensive and it doesn’t wow you. People are who they are so I’m not sure that he will become an offensive juggernaut but if moving up to 65kg helps with his energy and gives him a couple more offensive attacks, I do think he is Olympic gold caliber.
  5. My bad, I stand corrected regarding 141. Still don’t see him going 165 in march
  6. I don’t see Sammy going 165. He last competed at 141 and was severely injured. It would be a tall task for a healthy person to bump 3 weight classes and I don’t see that happening. I also think Sammy will still have the desire to win a title. Unless Messenbrink gets hurt, he is winning 165. 149 is the best option for Sammy to win a title, followed by 157. I see him in March at one of those 2 weights.
  7. Ohio State will have 2 different teams. Pre-Christmas OSU 125 - Kilkeary + McCrone 133 - Bouzakis + Davino 141 - Mendez 149 - D’Emilio + Cannon 157- Gallagher 165 - Hepner 174 - Welsh 184 - Rogotzke 197 - Shumate 285 - Feldman Post Season OSU 125 - Kilkeary 133 - Bouzakis 141 - Mendez 149 - Cannon 157- Sasso 165 - Kharchla 174 - Welsh 184 - Rogotzke 197 - Shumate 285 - Feldman i see Kharchla and Sasso coming in second semester and taking 157 and 165. The two weights I have the least confidence is 125 and 149. I could see coaches sending 125,149,157 and 166 to the southern scuffle to finalize those weights for the post season.
  8. This site is becoming unusable on mobile devices. Please send an email when it is fixed, will check back in a month.
  9. 1 - holding back has been very popular for good reason before NIL. It allows for better physical and mental development-please don’t try to argue against this. 2-in the NIL era, there are far more “potential rewards” for wrestlers than there have ever been, so giving your athlete the best chance often means, great coaching, great academics and holding back for max preparation for college. 3-I have asked my wrestling kids if they wanted to hold back and the conversation maybe lasted 1 minute. It was a quick no and we moved on. Oldest started high school weighing 103 on a full feed and did just fine. Youngest is tracking the same and we are not holding back. I have several friends that held their kids back. It was hard during the holdback year, then good for 2-3 years and then possibly a mistake for the senior year because their kids were top 5 in the country and were basically untouchable without going to national events. 4-Caring parents often look out for the best interests of their kids and should be left to make decisions that are in their best judgment. Rules should be in place to protect the kids. I would bet that there are a lot of holdbacks in football because the physical maturity that is needed in such a punishing contact sport. 5-maybe the question back to the coach is, why can’t you prepare my kid without being held back 6-coach is a good guy and just telling it like it is!
  10. Will there be a cake with entertainment?
  11. Crazy to look at that list and say zero, but if I had to pick one, I’d pick Mirasola. I think he is great today and will compete in a weight class with less high quality competition. The other guys will likely cross each other or other 2-4x champs in their way.
  12. So much can change for 25/26 but it’s always fun to speculate. And yes, this team should be a contender. 125 Kilkeary 133 Davino 141 Blaze 149 Mendez 157 Cannon 165 Bouzakis 174 Birden 184 Welsh 197 Rogotzke 285 Feldman
  13. Why I the world would you keep any of the old staff. They are going to be dead weight against the direction DT is going. Admin stuff is overrated and can be figured out pretty easy. It’s pretty hard to change people and DT needs to remove all barriers and make it his way. He will make a mistake or two along the way, but thats okay for someone that brings a lot to the table.
  14. I'm not sure if you are being serious. Brooks just took out DT while maybe not even being eligible for the olympics. DT screwed Bo back when he had surgery on his knee and didn't tell Bo so he could drop down to 86. Brooks and Nickal are not buddies with DT.
