  1. Iowa State
  2. One of the most impressive guys I’ve seen…ever. That snap to low attack is a combo of tricky technique and lighting quickness. Killer underhook to push out. Ankle picks and an apparently unstoppable gut. Not to mention it’s damn near impossible to get to his legs. He made Vito look slow. 61 is a perfect weight for him too. He’s thick but short. Super fun to watch. Congrats Ono!
  3. With all due respect to Ghasempour, I really hope we get the see DT vs the Tank. I think Taylor needs to get to his ankles. He’s built too powerfully through the middle to get through his hips. He needs to do what Takatani did to Dake. Get to his ankles and eliminate his chest lock and make him scramble in the process. A lot will come down to how the match is officiated. Will it just be the arbitrary passivity for both guys or will they really force both guys to wrestle and penalize the guy who doesn’t.
  4. Well it’s not fair to lump all coaches in that category. Some coaches have been big proponents for national duals.
  5. Somehow I forgot that it’s all about the money. I should have known. If any coaches do truly care about the health of the sport, and I’m not overly optimistic, they should help start a women’s team. If girls wrestling were a fledgling thing at the HS level I might understand, but it’s not and when given the opportunity it’s booming. Seems like a no brainer.
  6. I've been pleasantly surprised by the rapid growth of girl's high school wrestling here in NJ. I just read it's the fastest growing sport in America for both boys and girls. It's grown fivefold in the last decade. Why wouldn't a program like Penn State jump on board with starting a girl's program? It doesn't seem like them to not have the foresight or resources to develop a team. Iowa has a major advantage here going forward as they've basically monopolized most of the high end talent that's available. It's not as if it will take anything away from the boy's team as they would have a completely independent coach. And this isn't only a question for PSU. I'm not sure why any of the power programs aren't getting ahead of this.
  7. So in your opinion he’s a petty, thin skinned narcissist who needs to “like grow up.” Good to know. Maybe if you ever meet again you can tell him how you really feel about him. He runs a club in Collingswood.
  8. Bad choice of words. Perhaps your name made it come to mind. But you did tell him to..."like grow up." You may not be anti JB but you're def not pro. Not taking anything personal. I was making a point. Competition matters, and to just completely ignore it makes no sense to me.
  9. Silly that competition doesn't matter to the anti JB goat squad. A state champ in Kentucky is not the same as a state champ from Pennsylvania.
  10. Let's say JB wins another gold putting him at 11 medals and 8 golds. Would he then be the GOAT? Or is it impossible for him to be the GOAT?
  11. I’m pretty sure Michael Jordan is the GOAT and I’m positive he was not nearly as good at the end of his i career as he was in the middle. This isn’t hard to understand.
  12. Ok let’s. In 2022 at 79kg by my count there are a minimum of 7 former Soviet countries represented in JB’s weight that year. In fact both bronze medalists are from former Soviet states. He beat an Iranian in the finals. Compare that to a Canadian who never places before or after and an East German.
  13. Saitiev also lost his spot one year so there goes that point as well. if you’d like we can also compare who they had to beat to make their world teams over the years. I have a feeling JB’s competition did just a bit better on the international stage.
  14. No they don’t. One year Smith won a JV tournament by the standards of JB’s competition. I love John Smith. Always have always will. But that’s just a fact. He beat Canadian Gary Bohay in the finals who never placed before of after the 1989 worlds and the East German placed 3rd. Show me one single year that JB ever had to wrestle a tournament like that. Dude has 4 Russians in his weight nearly every year he competed. And in much more condensed weight classes. He also has ANOTHER world gold over Smith.
  15. No one forgets. We also remember it was at hwt when there were 10 weights and only 1 Russian. Same applies to Smith…10 weights 1 Russian. Now compare that to JB’s career and you tell me which is more difficult? It’s debatable, but to say in no way shape or form disqualifies you from the argument.
  16. He refers to himself as the GOAT because he is the GOAT. He's messed with the PSU fan base for years? If you consider keeping their guys off of world and Olympic teams as "messing with them" then maybe you have a point. Show us the tweet that said if you rooted against him you should be ashamed of yourself.
  17. Yeah especially when he will probably crush everyone this year. Great wrestler and seems like a great kid in many respects, but if the fans were truly whining and ripping JB for that shove they are clueless about the sport.
  18. MM has this, I'm so obsessed with wrestling and love it so much I just can't stop even when the whistle blows or we are out of bounds. Like he's possessed or something. Enough already, it's immature and time to knock it off. JB felt the same way I'm sure and let him know about it. Hopefully the message was received.
  19. The push happened after Messenbrink, for the umpteenth time, decided to continue wrestling after they were out of bounds or after the whistle had blown. He does this all the time not just with JB. It's super annoying and deserved a head shove imo.
  20. Russian transferring may not be new but it’s as abundant as ever. In fact it’s a lot of Dagestanis. Just look at 74kg. Dake wrestled Tsabalov for bronze, both guys in the other bronze match were Russian and the champ Tsamalov is also Russian. Of the 6 in the medal matches 4 were Russian.
  21. This kid looked outstanding at Fargo to me. Dominated in the finals. I was very impressed. Huge get for Taylor and co.
  22. Clinic yesterday at Rutgers.
  23. If Ukraine is forced to capitulate, do you seriously think Putin stops at Ukraine’s border?
  24. The Russian Sidakov is giving a clinic at Rutgers this weekend on the 7th. New assistant coach while also training for MMA? Make it happen Goodale.
  25. I’m guessing this has been said, but could it also be the simple fact that most people have swam in their lives and can relate whereas most people have never wrestled even just around the house?
