  1. Looks like semis are on mats 6 & 7
  2. Cinderella run of Danny Martinez of SIUE comes to an end, loses to Composto 7-4 (he did get the riding time pt though)
  3. Shawver currently the winner on 1 sec RT, tOSU challenging for a TD but probably won’t get it
  4. Shawver/Davino currently in TB mat 7
  5. This is probably the best explanation I can think of
  6. Pure speculation, but with him going to a different tournament than the rest of his team I wouldn’t be surprised if he hits the portal. I just wouldn’t be so quick to assume that Iowa would be the favorites to land him if that happens.
  7. UNC is also at Soldier Salute, wasn’t Cardenas originally a Cornell commit while Koll was there?
  8. Yes, because NIL isn’t technically from the school.
  9. Is Soldier Salute an open tournament?
  10. He did lose to Evans of Pitt earlier this year. But could get a rematch in the finals here potentially
  11. Some other Quarters notes: 157 - Logan Rozynski Lehigh over #1 seed Jude Swisher of Penn 6 seed Dylan Evans Pitt over 3 seed Grigor Cholokyan of Stanford 184 - 7 seed Nathan Haas Cal Baptist over 2 seed Donnell Washington of Indiana 285 - unseeded Logan Shephard Bucknell over 6 seed Michael Wolfgram of WVU and 3 seed Bryan Caves of CMU
  12. Even Lachlan McNeil, who is from Canada
  13. Ferrari is wrestling attached for the Soldier Salute and it seems Iowa has other freshmen wrestling unattached, so it must be considered second semester. So unless I’m missing something, not sure why Ferrari would wrestle attached unless he plans on not using his redshirt if he wins (and even then not sure why he still wouldn’t wrestle unattached)
  14. So adjust some of the UWW weights downward? Now you’re talking, although I have a feeling that’s not what you meant. I don’t think you answered in the other thread, but what’s your opinion on raising 197 (and probably 184)?
  15. Agree, you’d think in 2024 viewing brackets would be more simple. Apparently Martin Floreani is now starting a bracket company too, so if he can keep the conspiracy theories out of it maybe that could be a solution
  16. The Brands do a good job and aren’t particularly old. Spencer seems like the obvious successor if he’s interested. I’d like to see him actually be an assistant for a few years then maybe take over after winning gold at LA 2028
  17. Peterson won 7-1. Some other semi interesting results I see so far: 133 - Sean Spidle CMU over 4th seeded Angelo Rini of Indiana 141 - Danny Martinez SIUE over 4th seeded Eli Griffin of Cal Baptist Eligh Rivera Princeton over 6th seeded Anthony Santaniello of Pitt 149 - Dylan Gilcher Michigan over 4th seeded Ryan Burgos of Edinboro 157 - Rutgers had 2 seeded wrestlers lose in the first round. 7 seed Conner Harer to JT Chance of George Mason and 9 seed Michael Cetta to Logan Rozynski of Lehigh 184 - Abraham Wojcikiewicz (sp) over 3 seed Maximus Hale of Penn Not sure how to attempt to watch some of this, there’s 8 mats and not sure if any rhyme or reason. At least Soldier Salute has one choice with Shane Sparks skipping around
  18. Looks like Dean Peterson vs Marc Anthony McGowan is coming up, that’s an interesting match
  19. Losing a middleweight to add a weight between 197 and heavyweight won’t grow total participants. Raise 197 if you want to make the weights closer to international, don’t add one unless you’re suggesting 11 NCAA weights.
  20. These brackets don’t seem bad. I’d agree with FRL that the potential match of the tournament might be Incontrera vs Norman. This could be Incontrera’s toughest test to entering NCAA’a undefeated and potentially getting seeded above Haines, O’Toole and/or Hamiti depending on how their seasons play out
  21. Whoops - https://gophersports.com/news/2024/12/27/wrestling-gophers-return-to-action-at-soldier-salute The Gophers are scheduled to send 26 wrestlers to the Salute, including all 10 who appear in the latest Intermat rankings: No. 1 Gable Steveson (285 pounds), No. 4 Max McEnelly (184 pounds), No. 5 Isaiah Salazar (197), No. 6 Tommy Askey (157), No. 6 Vance VomBaur (141), No. 9 Cooper Flynn (125), No. 9 Andrew Sparks (165), No. 11 Tyler Wells (133), No. 21 Drew Roberts (149) and No. 23 Clayton Whiting (174).
  22. Or McEnelly. Did SDSU send any starters? I figured we’d at least see the ex-Iowa guys
  23. Any chance he’s looking to hit the portal? I’m sure he’ll do well at heavyweight next year especially with so many guys graduating
