  1. Hmm. Imagine a cinnamon roll rising from the casket w/little fangs, while Van Helsing rushes in and plunge a butter knife into his sweet cinnamon center (dammit, wish I could find an image or gif of that.) D3
  2. ALSO agree, that Lee Kemp was a great one that didn't get to wrestle in the Olympics (multiple WC under his belt.) My Dad and I saw his NCAA finals @ Princeton in '75, where he lost by Ref dec. in OT to Chuck Yagla (we thought that Lee was the winner in that match... THAT close on becoming the NCAA's first 4 X'er!) D3
  3. Gene Mills was an amazing 52Kg that was beating the likes of Anatoly Belaglazov (Olympic & World champ(s)) when the USA freestylers were getting beat by the Soviets regularly. When he went up in weight (57Kg-62Kg) later on, he was a bit more vulnerable (injuries didn't help either.) Definitely a BIG 114.5, that was VERY mean (hey YOU try melting 10-20lbs in a short amount of time to make weight, YOU'LL be a mean SOB as well!) D3
  4. You probably figured it out already... At Princeton, a turnaround one man saw coming How Chris Ayres brought Princeton wrestling its first national champion in 72 years By Josephine de La Bruyère PublishedMonday 10:29AM Chris Ayres and Princeton wrestling have arrived. ... but it's AYRES (it's an easy mistake for most to make anyway... ) cheers! D3
  5. Wow... Steveson's coming back to the mat, will be a gamechanger. As for the rest of the heavies as they hear the news... However, Gable will STILL need to find his shoes? (They were last seen on the mat in St. Louis after his last collegiate bout... ) D3
  6. Well... all this will come to head within a week for all to see. D3
  7. I do believe it will be FloWrestling. D3
  8. Just waitin'... waitin' fur the right wun to come thru th' portal. (Yep.) D3
  9. Why THIS is just preposterous... Rob Koll just GOT there!!! ( What does it all mean... I mean. I mean he just got there! ) [Intro: Groucho, speaking] Well, I'm certainly grateful for this magnificant washout. Uh, turnout. And now, I'd like to say a few words: [Sung portion begins] [Groucho] Hello, I must be going I cannot stay I came to say I must be going I'm glad I came But just the same I must be going, la-la! [Margaret Dumont] For my sake you must stay If you should go away You'll spoil this party I am throwing [Groucho] I'll stay a week or two I'll stay the summer through But I am telling you I must be -- going [Party guests] Before you go Won't you oblige us And tell us all your deeds so glowing? [Groucho] I'll do anything you say In fact I'll even stay! [Party guests] Good! [Groucho Marx] But I must be -- going! (... sorry, I couldn't down size it to small-font type emoticon.) D3
  10. Yeah, that sort-of locks that one in... can you imagine the crowd confusion of starting to yell out 'TWWOrmmttTHrrrrrrrrrREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!' ? (Hilarity & frivolity to follow... ) D3
  11. How about this for a solution at the NCAA's... don't mic them! D3
  12. Okay... consider me, edjumacated on this subject. tanxs, gents! D3
  13. Wow... Micic is competing @ 65Kg? That's certainly is quite a jump from 57Kg... bypassing 61Kg altogether. D3
  14. In all this comparative excitement of match ups and era's, weigh in, styles and such... who in all would ultimately would win here? ... why the fans, of course! (Now, what about which fans from the 50's-60's per the 70's & 80's that would bring the house down w/ all this ultimate matchups? THAT's another story altogether. ) D3
  15. !!! D3
  16. ... sooooo guys like Aquaman could participate in the tourney w/ assurances that he'll be protected while toeing the line across his opponent? That's Great! (... though, I would think that the refs would disallow him from bringing that pitchfork onto the mat.) D3
  17. Pardon for of the delay since I last posted on this. For those who do have a copy of The History of College Wrestling by Jay Hammond... it's starts with page 54 on "Evolution of the NCAA Wrestling Scoring Rules: look down at 1962. It mentions about the change of scoring TD's w/ the first one @ 2pts and then only 1pt for each one after. That went on until reverting it back to 2 pts for ALL TD's starting w/ the '68-'66 season. Explanation of that rule can be found on page 135 as such... " While the expressed purpose of the change in scoring was to encourage mat wrestling, it is hard not to believe that the real intention was to rein the Oklahoma State Cowboys." In short... the "take 'em down- let 'em up" strategy. Interesting! D3
  18. ??? D3
  19. After just reading further on Mats at NCAA's, coupled w/ this topic... I would now agree that THAT's a BIG FAT NO. D3
  20. I just mentioned about that on the Payton Robb topic just earlier... Sorry I didn't read this topic first. (Sterilaser, eh? Wow.) D3
  21. When watching the NCAA's online... I noticed that after each bout, there's somebody going over the mats w/a UV lite-kind-of broom. I don't recall the brand name... but is it effective in disinfecting the mats? (Just wondering... considering the topic on Peyton Robb and such.) D3
  22. Hooooooooo boy! D3
  23. OW!!! That one STILL hurts! D3
