  1. Big Burroughs fan. I was hoping he would leave his shoes on the mat. I'd rather that than seeing him up at the table arguing calls with his coach and then having a hard time leaving the mat. He had a difficult time leaving the mat when he lost to Dake 2 straight, as well. I've watched the 1988 Monday/Schultz Olympic trials a couple of times and love the way Schultz left the mat after his second loss and then carried Monday around the mat on his shoulders after Monday won Gold.
  2. I will be interested to see Brooks' reaction when he gets to heaven and God says, "I had nothing to do with those underhooks." It always amazes me that some people think God cares about sports. On the other hand, maybe God sits on his couch every Sunday during NFL season, cracks open a cold one, and swears at the officials.
  3. So, you are saying it's not like basketball where all the athletes on the team compete at the same time on the same court?
  4. What stands out to me more are the "general purpose stalling rules" mentioned first. It doesn't seem like those are applied effectively nor correctly... Considered stalling when "Attempting to avoid wrestling" (5.7.1). "Offensive and defensive wrestlers shall make an attempt to sustain active wrestling and remain in the competition circle" (5.7.11). "Action is to be maintained throughout the match by wrestlers staying near the center of the mat and wrestling aggressively in all positions."
  5. Well, I guess positive relationships between wrestling countries when the remainder of those countries are globally at odds is not such a big deal after all. But, I'll still take the open respect between Iran and US wrestling. Wrestling is doing what Olympic sports were designed to do, bring countries together for positive competition. Even chess can't claim to be doing that.
  6. It is interesting that many headlines are talking about the geopolitical mess playing out in the Iran/US world cup game. Compare that to the positive Iran/US wrestling relationship. The wrestling community should be proud.
  7. He is not even ready to compete yet. In his Flo interview he said the date of return hasn't been set yet. He said something like, "When it is right for me and the team..." And he indicated his coaches and doctors will make that determination, I believe.
  8. My point exactly... NIL has changed the landscape.
  9. Yes he is a good interview. Liked... "What do you mean? I just bought a house. I'd stop wrestling before I left Iowa." He did forget to add, though, I bought it with NIL money. : )
  10. I do like Spencer's demeanor in his most current Flow interview. What I like about it is his light hearted, but matter of fact focus on a continued world and Olympic pursuit. That does give Brands time to finish out his tenure, but at the same time Spenser does not have any appearance of focus outside of competing.
  11. Maybe... Or maybe I just updated to the KS. : )... You choose.
  12. Istanbul (just trying to help get the international board going).
  13. Whichever works at the time.
  14. Looking forward to it.
