  1. He might end up being the best at 125 but he is NOT the GOAT ... unless he is a Capricorn. Too many losses among other reasons.
  2. Sebastian River was leading Lee 2-1 at the end of the first at Midlands. He went on to beat Lee 7-3.
  3. Lee was decked in by Oklahoma State (Piccinini) but that may have been in the second period
  4. No Ragusin. No Mattin. Is it the Michigan Ducks?
  5. Ad hominem assertion. What about his statistics?
  6. Why does the guy who announces with Tim Johnson yell so loud? Is it because he is trying to compete with Shane Sparks' projected enthusiasm?

  9. Hardy, Robb, and Labriola all survive by the hairs on their chinny chin chins
  10. Wow, that was close. He had Robb on his back for a few seconds
  11. Can Gallagher pull off this upset? It would be big.
  12. I was going for the ticker tape look a la Wall Street stock prices or the thread running beneath a BTN wrestling match
  13. Rutgers dominates the first two matches. Bartlett looks good at 141 with a major. SVN also gets the major, despite giving up two TDs. Looks like it could have had the pin at the end, too. Haines wins fairly easily
  14. No RBY in the lineup tonight. (He's playing video games somewhere.)
  15. Not sure about Wkn, but one path to victory might be to win at 125 and then shut down the arena's electricity and cancel the rest of the matches. Otherwise, methinks there is no legitimate route to a win

  20. Two boots in should have a 5 count limit or something like that. Very few guys are capable of turning anyone with it in Division 1 and it very difficult to escape from. Riding for the sake of riding is barely wrestling. Most fans hate it and find it boring. It the opposite of action. It is re-action in fact to the bottom wrestler's attempts to get out. If the top wrestler isn't working to turn a guy, put them back on their feet. Freestyle has this right. Folkstyle can give them a longer period of time to work (say, 30 seconds) but limit it. When guys parallel ride, they generally are not working for a turn. They are stalling or going for a RT point.
  21. I prefer David Taylor's idea. You get riding time if you turn a guy. If you don't, no RT. It encourages action. If you can't turn a guy, you need to let him up and score another way. I would even be okay if the top man is put on a 30 second clock. No turn, then action returns to the feet.
  22. Great post. For some reason, it reminds me of a poem by Beatnik writer Gregory Corso called "Marriage" (see link below). Of course, after all the interesting discussion and analysis of the Hodge (the Saturday as opposed to Monday morning quarterbacking) , it is probably going to come down to very subjective voters who (and votes that) may not follow the stipulated criteria. Someone might be robbed. Someone might claim the election was rigged or stolen. Someone might even be searching for years for their missing (and imaginary) 11,780 votes (in Georgia). So the "best man" (note the marriage metaphor) may not win. But if he is damn lucky, perhaps he will go home with a bawdy bridesmaid ... and a participation trophy. https://www.litkicks.com/Texts/Marriage.html
  23. Not much discussion here recently of RBY as a Hodge candidate. especially if Lee falters. RBY has no losses this year. Has won something like 50 in a row (can't recall the exact number but it's close to that). If he closes it out, he will be a three time champ. And right now he has an 82 percent bonus rate. Also taking out Fix twice (or perhaps even three times) is no small feat given that Fix is a World Silver medalist Plus RBY should get extra points for his entertaining style. He won't but he is fun to watch.
  24. Did Hodge ever win the Hodge? Whoops, didn't see this was already mentioned (above).
