  1. He's definitely not hogtied in the trunk of my car right now, if that's what you're hinting at.
  2. Nope. Some dude named "FunnyFletcher" was on the old board for a short while and was a comedian, but I'm the original. And my posts are deadly serious.
  3. Given his age, there's also a fair chance the kid's dad is doing all this in his name.
  4. Did a great job with Northwestern and wish he was back into coaching.
  5. The ACC has an airtight "grant of rights" agreement with all members. FSU, Clemson and Miami would have to pay around $100MM to exit. Doesn't mean they won't, but unlikely. Each year the exit cost go down, so they eventually will leave - just depends on when it becomes cost-effective.
  6. No problem - happy to help. Now that I've taught you how message boards work, we can move on to Facebook and texting.
  7. Nope - going off memory, so I don't have data on hand. It's also been a while since Borelli's coached.
  8. It's a public message board - anyone can respond to anything. I was the initial poster anyways.
  9. Clearly running a top-notch program in terms of recruiting and getting already good wrestlers to continue performing at a high level. Can he take an average kid and turn him into a stud? I'm not really a PSU fan - I don't have enough knowledge about their program to give examples.
  10. You're welcome to your own interpretation. In my mind, it's relative. Turn a 3rd string kid into an above 500 wrestler, that's a success. Turn a top 50 recruit into a 500 college wrestler, not as impressive.
  11. I measure coaching quality by how many non-blue chip recruits are turned into successful wrestlers. T&T do that on occasion, but a guy like Borelli at CMU did that regularly during his tenure.
  12. Nah - your analogy is more like comparing Figeroa to Kirkvliet. Different size but still folkstyle. There's plenty of college wrestlers who are the same size as freestylers but are just not good at freestyle; and vice versa.
  13. Same sport - just different name, rules, moves, technique, scoring system, training protocol, and skills.
  14. Different sport
  15. No shame in making AA; that's a compliment. But there's also plenty of kids who don't have the advantage of his youth training environment who will have the opportunity to catch up.
  16. I said what I said.
  17. Both great athletes, but Ferrari could have been a 4 timer, while I don't see Downey winning even one. On a bigger scale, we're all the actual losers for never getting to see Ferrari v. Brooks compete for a national title (not current Ferrari but what he could have been with some discipline and 4 yrs. under John Smith on the OSU room).
  18. Bassett's ceiling in college is low AA regardless of school.
  19. If your kid is losing and you're not assaulting either the ref or the opponent's dad, do you even really love your child?
  20. There are so many things that can derail a college wrestling career - injuries, burnout, training environment, maturity, diet, grades, social pressures, etc.
  21. PSU should do this too - each week come out with a list of all the HS kids they're not going to recruit. Week 1 can be everyone who is 2nd or 3rd string on their HS team or went winless last season.
  22. It's not just the boomers who find it embarrassing. Sincerely, Gen X
  23. If a program didn't like the head coach, they'd let him go, not map out a multi-year strategy of hiring overqualified assistants to undermine him.
  24. Or maybe he's an insecure HS kid desperate for attention and his dad is his enabler. Also, rap still sucks and Elvis is a thief.
  25. I don't think he has wins over them, but pretty sure their dad beat both of them. That level of surliness doesn't come from nowhere.
