I wouldn't say she is famous, but much like Lucas Byrd and his GF, there is a whole group of people who only know the best NCAA wrestlers as Syd's Husband or Ellie's BF

yea, definitely didn't mean to imply a hard cap. Just a situation-by-situation "reasonable" cap. Personally, I hate that this will take money out of wrestlers pockets- but it will reduce the gap between the max different programs can offer, which theoretically could let less funded schools do better.

In the sense of what NIL is supposed to be (sponsorships, etc.) yeah, there are tons of businesses that will do NIL stuff with kids at PITT. In the NIL world of it being a vessel for big money to be paid to the kids just for coming to the school, Pitt does not have the donor base for that (but my understanding is that NIL is getting capped with the new clearinghouse stuff, so it will be more even playing field)

I would love for them to come to Oakland. Pitt needs to at least secure them for a visit ASAP. Especially with VT and UNC being so aggressive after them. Fargo could help, Pitt normally has coaches on the Team PA staff (part of how the staff got so close with Vince Bouzakis) that could be working with Bo/Melvin.

Probably a rather long time. Once filed, it would probably get out quickly, but I doubt anyone would hear about it until it was filed. And who is getting sued and for what would have to get sorted, which is not a quick process.

I think he is taking time. Melvin also can't have his official visits yet, I could see him wanting to let Melvin have his recruiting moment/ they could look at schools together. His youngest brother (Keegan) is a few weeks out from going to U17 worlds, Fargo is less than a week away- I think once we hit August or so, this will ramp right back up.

Willie said Valencia is going 149 as of right now- I don't know if that means a lineup bump or Parco sucking down/getting benched. I agree his folk record is middling right now- but looking at 149, I agree that Stiles, McNeil, Williams, and whoever ISU throws out there seem like tough matches, but Valencia's FS accomplishments make me think he could beat them if he adjusts to 149 well (and if his FS game is accurate to his folk potential)

I agree Shapiro has untapped potential. I also think Lockett is just too big for him at the moment. I don't feel like Shapiro is even a big 157 yet.

I don't know, someone saying they heard rumors is different than reporting on something unsubstantiated. If you say what you hear is a rumor and you don't know the validity that is not the same as saying it will happen

He is not wrong that they look weaker at the Worlds this year, but saying they have no depth is a little ridiculous IMO. Suda is their backup at 61kg, and he is likely a world title contender. Yama*I poop my pants, don't laugh at me*a was 3rd on the ladder at 70kg, and he won Duke's u20 bracket last year. Tanabe and Nishiuchi at 65kg would be the tier as Woods if not higher. They even have a former world champ at 70kg (teched prime Zain in the finals) who is on their Greco Team this year! They are sending Takahashi at 74kg (no Takatani), and he smoked Messenbrink last year. They are weak at 79, 92 and HWT (where the US has new faces but should outperform), but even in the upper weights (where Japan historically struggles), their 86 and 97 have past wins over our reps. They are weak at 57 with no Higuchi and Ono not coming down, and we have a huge advantage there with Spencer not sitting out. I do expect the US to outperform Japan this year at worlds, but Pyles is acting like they will be garbage.

Aden Valencia at 149 is someone I could see being a title threat. I would favor SVN and Henson over him, but I think anyone else at 149 is a toss-up

Lockett teched Shapiro last time they wrestled- I don't think he is beating Messenbrink, but he has the same long shot as anyone else around that weight range IMO

PSU and Iowa are free. It sounds like 34 is being switched to free. I think the On3 boards that are new/transferred from rivals are automatically paid only, will be made free over time, hopefully, because not that many people will if they are only interested in wrestling
