Basically, it sounds like the bill makes some cuts, all to programs that are already small or benefit poor people ( medicaid). Has some spending increases such as military and homeland security. The biggest component is MASSIVE tax decreases for billionaires that are way way way more than the net cuts. Doing the math, it adds trillions to the debt over next 10 yrs and basically transfers more money from the poor to the rich.

Many many people will be disqualified because they don't properly fill out paperwork and in time. Many of them don't understand English very well either. I know this sounds like an easy thing for you and I, but think about the challenges that a lot of people have that are already on medicaid. Those same challenges will end up making the paperwork a major logistical hurdle for them.

I agree that the biggest question may be how many of your kids may be visiting you at once, including their own kids. That determines how much space you need. Other than that, get the smallest place you can tolerate because if you eventually live with another woman, you'll probably need to get a new place anyway. If they aren't visiting a ton, it may be cheaper to put them up in hotels than to buy a bigger place. I'm not sure how old you are, but also consider that your mobility and strength is going to decline. At some point, you'll need to be in a condo or apartment so this may be a time to make that jump. My wife and I are going with a 3-bed, 1700 SF ranch. I enjoy shovelng and mowing for now. We have 5 kids between us, but they may all end up living fairly far away (all around college age right now) so we want to have a little extra space but not waste it either.

That's another blatant winger lie. SS is paying out more than it's taking in, because people are living longer than they used to. Call it separate or combine it, that's a matter of semantics. Fact of the matter is that both programs run deficits so changes are needed. You can cut benefits, raise contributions or just go farther into debt. The wingers just want to put it on the national credit card. No spine whatsoever.

I'm actually probably the ONLY person (or one of them) that on this forum actually in favor of also cutting social security (the Uber rich don't need any of it) and medicare, albeit modestly (not as much as the military, where I'd gut it like the fat pig that it is). Im in favor of cutting the OVERALL budget but also raising taxes on everybody to cut into the deficit and keep interest rates lower. I'm not dumb enough though like most wingers to think that cutting USAID, EPA, Dept of Education and Planned Parenthood is going to make any sort of dent in the budget. I would NOT cut Medicaid or assistance to poor families. The young families are the people we need to prioritize for assistance. This is our future. If I have to triage my money and pick between saving the life of a kid and extending the life of somebody in their 80s, I'm going to pick the kid almost every time (depending upon actual circumstances though).
