You’re taking me back to the Flips Headphones marketing era.

"TWOOOOO" , when will it be "THREEEEEE"?
MadMardigain replied to AgaveMaria's topic in College Wrestling
I’m sure we will have some stuttering refs these opening weeks trying to retrain their brain to make the new call. -
Turkey and Senegal come to mind with a specific national style.

Better question maybe: How do the Brands end up after the family is done there.
-
Yet. A few years back you would have said the sport doesn’t have anything to do with sand either.

The Humphrey Era Downey is about as good as you are going to see with him. Not sure anyone else has or will be able to get in his head good enough to get both decent results and a somewhat in check demeanor on and off the mat. Sure not world beater but at least he added decent depth to the US ladder and could be competitive internationally for that short period of time.

Apparently Repechage is French for stupid
MadMardigain replied to Wrestleknownothing's topic in International Wrestling
I’ve said for awhile now I’d be fine if they pulled had a way to pull Quarter-Final loser from the opposite side. But as JB basically said wrestlebacks at this level are brutal so unless they do them over multiple days it’s hard to add much more. -
I stopped having friend so I wouldn’t have to ask things for them like them.

Stanford wrestling's future?
MadMardigain replied to TitleIX is ripe for reform's topic in College Wrestling
Hope the travel budget is there or some of the none top tier 1 are close to being cut. -
It wasn’t that long ago Stanford was on the brink of closing the wrestling room doors for good. Koll coming in was part of ensuring the program remained relevant. Who can come in to keep that going? And could Stanford consider ending the program again if that relevancy begins to fall off with Kolls departure? I don’t recall but did they at least get some type of endowment in place during the resurgence to help with keeping it afloat long term?

I’m down almost 20lb in last 3 weeks. But that’s been accomplished through getting back to work routine habits after summer break, eating better, running a 5K every other day, and drinking “the good stuff” on weekends only again. Plus, a stubborn attitude to not let these high school brats think for a second they have an edge up on me in neutral a month or two. I’ve been in wrestling too much of my life to believe any less than hard work and some self control will work over a long period of time.

What’s a Cadet? Must be some military school world championship. Let’s go Black Knights!

Big 10, Big 12, and Pac 12 shuffle (maybe) coming in hot
MadMardigain replied to bnwtwg's topic in College Wrestling
As BigTen expand across the nation so does travel cost, especially for minor sports that don’t bring in a major money. So is furthering conference expansion helping schools keep these minor sports viable or could it cause them to reduce some of their catalog in order to focus more on the main money makers? If anything I don’t see this as improving the state of wrestling in the Big10. -
Legit Venue for NCAA's in Vegas: Two questions...

I’ve seen a few of those Bachelorettte parties turn into wrestling matches. -
Legit Venue for NCAA's in Vegas: Two questions...
MadMardigain replied to ThreePointTakedown's topic in College Wrestling
If The Sphere did host wrestling it would be a unique setup considering the arena seating was designed more as a concert venue with the 17,000+ seats in a fan type shape facing a stage that’s on the other end. They do have plans for pro-wrestling, boxing and MMA events there, so I guess it’s plausible, but it’s wasn’t really planned as a major sports complex. -
Woodburn swings hard but doesn’t have a ton of striking technique and his ground game is almost none existent. If Nickal sticks to the safe game plan of getting it to the ground quickly he shouldn’t need long to finish the fight.

LJB - What's this about the women's style?
MadMardigain replied to mspart's topic in International Wrestling
This is true. Several of the big names would have to cycle off for awhile if they ever wanted a chance at it. -
LJB - What's this about the women's style?
MadMardigain replied to mspart's topic in International Wrestling
I always figured something like Jujitsu (gi or no gi) would be pushed as the next Combat Sport since it’s got a good international following, would allow some nations that don’t traditionally medal a ton to gain more hardware, and is more ground based and the Olympics doesn’t have much of that in their Combat Sports department. Not sure why Brazil didn’t push it as one of their Olympics trial sports. -
But haven’t they been leaving their tanks in Ukraine.

What was J Cox injury at finale X ?
MadMardigain replied to totough's topic in International Wrestling
We know that showing and making weight ensure he remains in the team ladder and all that entails. So if that’s the prior injury he may have already accepted winning may not be an option but making sure he remained in the ladder still was. -
What are these papers you speak of that have news on them? Are they some type of new invention these quick witted Gen Z folks came up with. We used to only get out news via social media and streaming TV. Oh it would be glorious to have a new media format. What will this young generation think of next.
