Not surprised by Courtney.

Mark Schultz has a story about wrestling a bear that was chained up at some bar. I think the catch was you would only win if you could pin both of its wrists down at the same time, which is apparently impossible because of how they are built. He felt sad for the bear since he thought the owner abused it.

It didn't really work out that well with Negron this year. I guess there was a reason he left Penn State.

I know he got hit for a team point after he lost to Belton. I couldn't figure out who else cost them a team point.

2 of those were NCAA champions and an 8th place finisher.

There wasn't much room for error in this tournament for ASU. Yas getting stuck as Belton was starting to go empty and Courtney losing were surprises. Injuries have just been unkind. Losing Jacori, then having Kordell miss most of the season. Montalvo was in and out with injuries too. ASU needed to go at least 5 for 6 in the finals to have a shot. Also having Willner and Negron not do much on the backside hurt. I saw they were dinged a point for the extracurriculars after Yas lost. What was the other point for?

They got uniforms and everything.

I learned the hard way. He did things I hadn't even considered or thought of. Terao is a great example of somebody who incorporated judo into wrestling at a high level. It really throws you, pun intended, if you don't practice against it.

I don't think they had any other choice. They are getting Chlebove ready to take over at 33 next year for McGee. Figs has 25 nailed down. Vasquez might have just had too many injury issues to overcome or he might need a full year to be healthy. Unless everybody moves up at least somebody is sitting next year between Vasquez, Ysa, Ramos, and Parco. Good problem to have I guess.

I think they knew something was up with Vasquez and this was their backup plan in case he was too injured. They probably have had an idea about this for a month or so.

Ysa posted on social media he was pulling his redshirt and competing at Pac12s. Unless something changes I think that is the plan, or if somebody else got injured and it is being kept hush hush. I don't think they would pull his redshirt for him to go up or down from where he has been all year. Especially with other capable backups at both 33 and 49.

I just saw a GoFundMe for Ismael Borneo. I guess he is in the US mow and going to be coaching Greco. Anyone else know if any others have defected to come here?

It isn't as if he doesn't have a good case for a 7th year. At this point though I don't know if he really wants to go through another college season. Kind of sad because injuries really held him back from being a title contender. At his best he can beat anybody in the country.

I used to occasionally roll with a multiple time Singaporean or Malaysian judo champion who had been to worlds a few times. He was maybe 140 lbs and I was over 200 and if I made even a small mistake I was going for a ride. I finally figured out if I could keep him from putting his hands together, easier said than done, the chances of me going flying went down somewhat. It was always a pleasure to test against him because he was so technical and had years of experience. I should also mention he was around 50. He really showed me that even the smallest steps forward or tiniest amount of weight pushed into him was all he needed to throw.
