Projections on where they fit into a lineup shouldn't have an impact on which class is better. There are too many unknowns with the portal, injuries, etc. Just because there isn't a wide-open spot today doesn't mean there won't be one tomorrow or vice versa. Look at Zach Ryder. Plus, with the various redshirts, there are all sorts of ways to make the lineups work so that guys get their full 4 years.

1. Take the @Pablo individual rankings. 2. Run a dual simulation for each team against each other. 3. Take the top-16. 4. Profit.

Oklahoma State. 3 in the Top-6 > Top-2 & 5 in the Top 25 > 4. I need to go back and update my points scored for each recruiting rank to get an updated idea on what to expect from each.

Nini wrestled 57/65 last year. Is he going to make that big of a cut? Is Webster planning on going up?

Fun REO Speedwagon tidbit for you peeps... When my sister and I were kids, we did the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, and my sister's mentor was the mother of REO's bassist Bruce Hall.

Athletics has raised $37,017 from 749 gifts! Wrestling had 84 donors. I did some math (they have a leaderboard that shows the percentages each team was behind the 1st) to calculate that they raised $3650 or 43.50/donor.

Those numbers @Idaho is quoting seem to be for all of Cal-Bakersfield and not just wrestling.

FR/SO - 103 JR - 112 SR - 125 College 133 until semester and then I would move up to 141.

Best to ever beat you (more post-NCAA banter)
cowcards replied to jackwebster's topic in College Wrestling
Post-College - Kyle Ruschell (Wisconsin) beat me in my first ever FS match at Sunkist. I was helping coach our women's team that went and someone got sick, but they wouldn't refund the spot, so I used it. Never wrestled or trained FS before. My 2nd one I lost 1-0 to David Jauregui (WV) and called my FS career to a close. College - Terrance Almond - Dana (4x NAIA AA) HS - Mark Moos at NHSCA Open Best I ever beat would probably be Julian Gunnels of Briar Cliff (2x NAIA 3rd). Majored him in a dual. -
Ahhh. I missed that when I was looking at the scoring. Good thing I haven't done it yet. Ha
-
Yep. Part of why I haven't done it yet. More of a fun feature than anything. But, prior to 1955 there was no scoring except for placement, so that helps quite a bit. I think I'll end up doing % of max points available. Anyone that was a 3x national champ prior to freshman or 4x national champ after will max out the points until 1972 when bonus points were added to scoring.
-
Yep. Hoping to get it updated this week. Been working on the backend. One of the things I am hoping to do this year is calculate each wrestler's team points for each "era" of rules and help compare the differences and wrestlers from each era. It'd be cool to know how many point Taylor would score if he was wrestling in 1929, 1970, 1985, etc...

Kentucky had the same thing happen last year after their coach left. I think almost all of Iowa's team is in the portal too. Some of those guys could come back if they like their new coach. Illinois had only one player return after last season, and their coach didn't leave. This is now very common in basketball with smaller rosters and bigger money.

You can find the answers to 1-3 on my website, wrestling.guru. I'm working on making it more user friendly to get all the information on each wrestler right now instead of searching multiple webpages/databases. I'm actively getting the answers to #4-5. #6,7,9,10 will be partially answered by some of that for a select few. #8 would be able to be answered with a little bit of research after I can do 4-5. -
That's 26/80 AAs this year. I don't know about any others, but Byrd could come back next year if he pursues a med shirt for last year. So this may not be his actual Covid year. I don't ever apply those until they use it though because not everyone does it.
-
