  1. I'll bite. He's clearly not going to Penn State given they have Haines and Messenbrink. What pastures are greener than Iowa?
  2. From my source it's 2 non-starter wrestlers on the Hawkeye team. I think they get suspended a semester and are allowed to rejoin in the spring. It will have zero impact on the Hawkeyes dual or tournament performances. For the record, I think students should be allowed to gamble freely provided they are of age and they aren't wagering against themselves in games they actually participate in. Problems only arise if athletes wager against themselves since they can throw a game. Betting on yourself to win poses no conflicts.
  3. Did he do a Mormon mission for a few years? Seems a bit old to be entering college.
  4. With AOC graduating and Haines possibly moving up does this mean true freshman Cody Chittum is the favorite at 157?
  5. Not so subtle signs that he'll be pursuing professional MMA?
  6. Wolverines will be the top challenger to Penn State next season for sure now
  7. There's a decent chance both are at 174 pounds next year. I think Arnold, who recently won U20s at the US Open could actually beat Starocci. He's got the short stocky powerful build which has been known to give Starocci problems in the past. And he's an Iowa Hawkeye. Starocci only has a few losses in his career and most are to Iowa guys.
  8. Dude, how about a trigger warning?
  9. DeAugustino, Cannon, Davison have already transferred and Griffith could all transfer to Michigan. This would give Michigan a loaded roster for next season...one that could challenge Penn State next year. 125 DeAugustino (TRANSFER former AA) 133 Rasgusin (former AA) 141 Cannon (TRANSFER former AA) 149 Lamer 157 Lewan (former AA) 165 Amine (former AA) 174 Griffith (PROJECTED TRANSFER former champ) 184 Rogers 197 Walters HWT Lucas Davison (TRANSFER former AA)
  10. Meaning the next can't-miss lightweight stud? I used to think it was Bo Bassett given he was a lightweight stud who was leaning Iowa. But he has taken a few losses recently so I'm left wondering who is the next Spencer Lee?
  11. Iowa City, the Mecca of Wrestling
  12. Does Iowa have high admission standards? Can't imagine it being any tougher than Oklahoma State.
  13. Did AJ already committ [sic] to Iowa?
  14. Very tough lineup. Could win it all over Penn State with the right draw.
  15. His daddy explained the situation in full in a videotaped interview following his withdrawal from the US Open
  16. Until recently Steveson was WWE only...
  17. He's currently the most famous and relevant US wrestler.
  18. Assuming both are healthy who wins in folkstyle, who wins in freestyle? Many assumed Spencer would beat RBY in folkstyle and after seeing Vito dismantle RBY that may be true.
  19. Exactly. Spencer actually said he thinks folkstyle sucks...yet he sacrificed his body wrestling folkstyle for the Hawkeyes and now he may never win a freestyle Olympic or World medal.
  20. And people want college to switch to freestyle… A dual meet could be over in 15 minutes if all it takes is 1 takedown and 4 leg laces to end a match.
  21. Have to think if he went to Penn State hen would have won a NCAA title
  22. 6 US open finalists either wrestled for Penn State or NLWC at some point: Suriano, Nick Lee, Nolf, Joseph, Brooks and Gwiz 3/3 NLWC members won in the finals. 5 other NLWC and former Penn Staters placed. Bartlett took 4th at 65 kg. Former Penn Stater Verkleeren took 6th at 70 kg. Starocci forfeited to 6th at 79 kg. Former Penn Stater Mark Hall took 3rd at 86 kg. Morgan Mcintosh injury defaulted to 6th at 92 kg. Iowa/HWC only had 1 US open finalist in Desanto and he lost 10-0 to Vito 4 other Iowa/HWC placed. Spencer Lee forfeited to take 6th at 57 kg. Eierman took 7th at 70 kg. Marinelli took 4th at 79 kg. Kemerer took 5th at 79 kg.
  23. Starocci has MFF out of the US Open. Sounds like the injury is serious.
