Jimmy Carter caused the demise of America
Paul158 replied to JimmyBT's topic in Non Wrestling Topics
There were problems looming in the horizon that they could have addressed. But instead of helping they poured gas onto the small fire in the wastebasket and burnt down the entire house. By chance are you in the agriculture industry (farming)? -
Jimmy Carter caused the demise of America

Ok . We will go slow here. Jimmy Carter the man was a good man. DID I say anything different? OK. I was very critical of President Carter and his Advisors decision to put a grain embargo on Russia. By putting a grain embargo on Russia to punish them he also punished the American farmer. They put Zero thought into how their decision might adversely affect the thousands of farmers across America. Did you actually read what I wrote? Have you ever read up on how devasting the Farm Crisis of the 80"s was? There were no policies put in place to stabilize the prices or to compensate farmers for their loses. Interests rates went sky high and money was frozen by lending institutions. So President Carter and his advisors were big contributing factors to the Farm Crisis of the 80's. Like many of the other farmers who lost their farms I also lost my farm. I don't expect you to understand. You did not experience it and It did not affect you or any one you know in any way. -
To whom ? Why?

Jimmy Carter caused the demise of America

We were talking about Jimmy Carter. It is personal with me. I was 25 at the time. Farmed abut 150 acres in my spare time. I wish I knew ahead of time what they were doing I would have not planted any crops. To say the least it was a very difficult time for myself and other farmers. If you read my other posts I am not a big fan of wars , especially Vietnam. One of Americas biggest blunders . You may have read my son and 3 son in-laws are serving in the military. All fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. Only one of them got injured . By an IED while in a hummer in Iraq. He is doing ok now. I will be happy to answer any of your other questions. -
Jimmy Carter caused the demise of America

I would say Jimmy Carter and his advisors really blew it when they decided to punish Russia with a grain embargo. The agriculture community at the time was already struggling and needed some help or attention from the federal government in a positive way. But President Carter and his advisors decided to impose a grain embargo. We were exporting 20 percent of our grain to Russia at the time. By doing so they greatly contributed to the Farm Crisis of the 80's. It was devastating. Grain prices plummeted by 40 percent causing tens of thousands of farms to go bankrupt. Most of the farms were generational farms. They had been their family's for decades. President Carter was a major factor. -

Busted by the spell check police. -
You can scold me if you want. I just went to the Parkland high school shooting on Wikipedia. Check it out. Scroll down to shooting. It says he was spotted and recognized by a school monitor outside ,walking purposely toward building 12. He phoned in immediately to the school monitor inside the building.. He had a backpack and a rifle case. EVERYONE knew who he was. They could and should have called a code red and locked down the building immediately and saved all those lives and they didn't. They had time but didn't act. There is a lot more about the entire horrible shooting from before the shooting and what led up to this terrible act. There were a lot of buildings and they were all unlocked. My question is WHY?

Very well said. I would say only 1 maybe 2. Le Duke would be one. Do you think when the officer was being hired during the conversation that he was asked ," in the event that there are 1 or 2 assailants that have rifles or hand guns and enter the school building can you keep all of students safe " ? I would bet it never entered anyone's mind.

While raising my 5 children 35 years ago we lived in town 150 yards from the police department. The fire department was 100 yards away. I didn't feel the need to have a gun then. I have since moved to the country. Times have changed. If I had a gun ( when my children were young) I would done exactly what my father did when I was a child. Instruct them on how to safely use a gun. Instruct them on how dangerous a gun can be. I would safely store the gun. There is a lot of responsibility as a parent when you own guns. I take gun safety very seriously as all gun owners should.

I have been reluctant to add this discussion but here goes. I haven't been in the military. But my son and 3 son in-laws are active military. I also had well over 2000 active duty or retired military customers. Most of, if not all highly skilled in warfare and all that it in tales. None of them would have taken this job with the security practices that were in place. They would have given the school board a long list of measures to be put in place to be able to protect the students and faculty. With these measures in place it would be highly improbable that the shooter would ever attempt to come to the school because it would no longer be a soft target. Its doubtful he would get near or in the school. By far and away for the longest time schools have been extremely soft targets. The shooter in Tennessee choice that particular school because it had the least amount of security of schools he was considering to murder the children. It was a soft target.

Did you ever considered the reason why you or people you know haven't been invaded? Maybe you or the families you speak of are similar to my community. I live in small development out in the country ( 5 acre parcels). There are about 15 families. I'm pretty sure all homes have guns and they know how to use them. Most of the homes have dogs. I would consider that a deterrent to unscrupulous idiots wanting to cause harm. Our (surrounding) community is also fortunate to have large influx of military families. So of course they own guns and know how to use them. I'm glad for you that it has never happened. But are you claiming that we shouldn't have any guns in the event something would happen. We should just call 911?

The electoral college is tyranny. Can you please explain.

That is my situation and millions of Americans. When common sense is absent it doesn't have a good ending.

I don't think the average citizen has any idea of the time that it takes for a police officer to get their home. In a rural area its 15 to 30 minutes, if there isn't any traffic. When someone invades your home you have less than a minute to get your gun to defend yourself. If you live in a city it might take about the same time for the police to get to your home ( 15 to 30 minutes). Calling 911 is great if the intruder agrees to stay outside until the police get there.

Excellent reply.

Supposedly they are starting to print ballots Jan. 5th.

4752 courts saw it the other way. But we can't talk about those courts.

Not enough evidence to charge or convict. Only enough for them to form an opinion which is not law.
-
In context it sounds like a terrible law. Which can easily be misused. Which was written 150 years ago for a specific reason to achieve a certain outcome. Shouldn't this law have stricter requirements in order have less confusion when trying to interpret it?
-
So it is based on a law made 150 years ago that was put in place specifically for those confederates who participated in the civil war to keep them out of government. I believe all of those Americans are now dead, or they are pushing 200 years old. Now Old Joe is close but not really.

The Dems could care less about our democracy. All they want is a victory in 2024 by ANY MEANS POSSIBLE!!!!! Very sad but true. TDS is very real!!!!

Wouldn't Trump need to be convicted before they could pull the 14th card? Did they forget that key element ?

Three of the judges (3) that voted yes were from Yale and Harvard. Who would have guessed.

In all of college sports(Div.1,2,3.) men's ,women's, every school included, I doubt there are more than 75 teams that can cover all expenses. They would be in Div. 1 men's football and Div. 1 men's basketball. I'm not sure but that is probably well over 8000 (plus) teams across all divisions. There are 1066 NCAA member institutions. That is a lot of sports teams.
