If in a tournament and you get inured during match and can’t continue (Injury default) and then MFF next match, the MFF don’t count against you Let’s say you wrestle and finish 3 matches but then MFF, the MFF counts as a loss
-
There’s a bunch of solid guys. There’s no Spencer or Suriano in the field.. I agree if Davis continues to develop he has just as good as shot as anyone to make podium
-
Robbie Howard is shot. No use talking about it much more as I doubt he’ll be the guy. I watched this kid thru HS. He was a wildman, constant pressure and offense. He’s seemingly healthy but the injuries must have taken its toll in his head. Was not same Robbie Howard and I highly doubt he ever gets back to that. I can’t imagine Davis isn’t the guy going forward. He’s not AA material right now but he’ll give everything he has and hopefully can improve enough to where he can make podium. Thankfully 125 is as weak as I can remember it being in a long time. Only unknown at this point is McHenry hasn’t wrestled this year. Would have liked to see what he has these last 2 tournies
-
Teemer I believe had concussion last weekend and Levi looked to tweak something in his knee in one of his matches. I’d imagine if you not 100%, makes no sense to wrestle in this

What a shit show..

This year I believe NCAA put in new rules for MFF. I believe the rule is if you MFF, you get the first loss counted against your record unless it's the next match after an injury default. This should stop people from MFF outing tournaments or it could hurt your seed and win/loss record. Vince Cornella lost a match to Beau Bartlett Sunday. The next match he MFF against PSU back up David Evans. Shouldn't his official record be 1-2 instead of 1-1 (per wrestlestat)? Personally I love this..should deter people to wrestle if not injured or take the L. Not picking on Cornella, just the only case I personally witnessed so far.

Crazy thing. McGonagal is in All Star Classic. Could be his last match this year. Wonder if they switch wrestlers for classic. I guess and he can go up and challenge Hynes?
-
I’ll always be a fan of Beard. Hope he takes it to Hidlay AB gonna make a lot of people look like train wrecks. Only guy athletic and fast enough to give Brooks a challenge is AJ if he comes back
-
Most likely because Haines sees Teemer in a couple weeks at ASC as well as Van Ness/Parco Brooks/Beard meet in a few weeks as well vs Lehigh
-
I like your optimism. That being said.. If Messenbrink and Nagao wrestle, I see it 8-2 or 9-1 PSU. Could be shut out if BB takes out Woods (Cass beat Kerk first few times as well) if no Nagao or Messenbrink it’s still 6-4 PSU (that’s giving Iowa tossup up at 125, 133,141 and 165) At tournament it won’t be close
-
If Nagao out, Iowa is a tossup at 125 and lean Iowa at 133 and 141. Where else they gonna win? 165 if Messenbrink don’t go?
-
As a PSU fan, not happy because I like this event. I have read somewhere that there maybe "senior nationals or some sort of Olympic qualifier around those dates" so I'm guessing a lot of the PSU guys will be there
-
NQ guy? Iowa fans were penciling him in finals before the move. IMO. CC much better than VV.

Excellent squad coming back with additions of Loew, Fernandez and Shapiro
-
No chance in hell Starocci goes up to 184. He’s focused on making Olympic team at 74kg. He either takes Olympic redshirt and doesn’t wrestle next year or you see him and Brooks in very limited action. You may be right about Brooks going up since I assume he’s looking to compete at 86kg for Olympics. My guess.. 125 Howard 133..Davis 141..Bartlett 149..Van Ness 156..Haines 165..Facundo 174..Starocci (limited) 184..Brooks (limited) 197..Cochran 285.. Kerk If Brooks goes up insert Barr at 184. Davis and/Howard could flip depending on size
-
Does Loew and Fernandez have eligibility left? If so, and with the addition of Shapiro who will be a bona fide stud I can see Cornell at #2 next year. how does Vito have eligibility left? He was a 2017 graduate never redshirted, assuming he didn’t enroll in 2021 like Yianni (same class). Did he greyshirt out of HS?
-
Agree. Just don’t understand why they didn’t just give everyone in 2020 an extra year since they missed a year. Then just give an extra redshirt year for any kids who were redshirting in 2020. But under no circumstance should they have the seniors in 2020 lose one of their 4 and to make it worse they gave an extra year for anyone in 2021 to make 5. Under no circumstance should people be wrestling in 5 tournaments

Would LOVE to see O'Toole move up..maybe it will motivate Star to come back if someone calls him out like that. Star would be major problems for KOT..we saw what happens to guys that like to roll around
-
They all had one thing in common. They wrestled in 4 tournaments not 5
-
How would Starocci be a three timer? He is 3 for 3. Otoole is 2 for 3. Not trying to diminish Otoole but to say you’re a 4 timer if you had 5 cracks at it isn’t the same as being a 4 timer with 4 cracks it. Of the four timers currently, they only had 4 tournaments to compete in not 5 bottom line. No one should have 5 tournaments to compete in
-
He’s going into his 4th tournament next year. Took 3rd, 1st, 1st. If it wasn’t for the free year he could only be a 3 timer. He was same year as Starocci except Starocci is 3 for 3. Ferrari was the only guy like Starocci that could have went for 5 titles but we all know that story.. personally I don’t see Starocci coming back for his 5th and based on his interview who knows if he even comes back for 4 still doesn’t make sense why NCAA is giving people 5 tournaments to compete in while screwing guys like Joseph, Hall, Kolodzik, etc who only got 3

As a PSU fan, RBY losing stings but Vito did his thing and beat him. Stings because it was his last match. Haines and Kerk losing doesn’t hurt at all. Haines had an amazing freshman year and Kerk lost to the better wrestler. Team trophy is awesome and the way the team performed as a whole was awesome. 7 guys in top 3 and 2 NCs..nothing like Iowa a few years ago
-
Well..happy they agree now. I just don't get people don't know what they're watching until the end. You can watch certain kids and just know they have "IT" I dont have to wait till NCAA's to know I was right, but glad it worked out
-
Thanks for finding this..how do you look up old posts? I didnt remember thread title so I didnt even know what i was searching for

Just checked ..in 2021 top 10 Big Board only 2 AA'd as freshman (Hamiti/Van Ness). on 2022 Big Board only 3 that AA'd are Haines/Mendez/Henson So 5 guys out of 2021/2022 top 10 final rankings AA'd as freshman..not that easy not matter where you were coming in. I wish people would give more credit to these kids rather than say..oh they were great coming in...no easy feet to AA.
