  1. "I hope you had a helluva piss Arnold!" Classic Movie!
  2. Happy Thanksgiving all!! There would be only 2 wrestlers in past 10 yrs I’d give A+ grades across all 3 positions. David Taylor and Jason Nolf. Bo and Zain would be close but I would only give them A in neutral. And wouldn’t give them A+ in bottom. if I could edit my original post, I’d give O’Toole an A+ on bottom. A+ on bottom means you’re not getting ridden and will actually create offense from bottom if not careful Any others in the past 10 or so years (where we have plenty of film in them) in your opinions?
  3. I dare you to start on bottom against Dean. I’m wincing from my couch every time I see him put the bow and arrow on someone. People make fun of Warner screaming last year..I’d be doing the same damned thing!
  4. Agree defense is important..but then it’s way to subjective IMO. Some guys can’t get taken down because they don’t engage or play the edge..don’t want to reward that. Yeah it’s good defense but it’s boring wrestling. Then there’s guys that are so offensive they give up legs just to get into scrambles. Too much too analyze. Trying to keep it simple. I won’t argue with your O’Toole pick as best all around..I’d take AB but I can see at case being made for a few others and Otoole is definetly one of them. I want to see him vs Carr. That’s the test for him
  5. After reading many of the responses, maybe I was a little harsh with some of the C grades on bottom. Maybe make them B’s?
  6. I don’t think there’s a stat for it anywhere (I could be wrong). But I would guess AB gets riding time Point in 95% of his matches. That’s an A anyway you slice it. It’s not like he not getting back points in most of his matches (he is). Hes not an A+ because he not pinning enough, but if you can get riding time in 95% of your matches and getting many turns..it’s an A
  7. I’m not comparing them to each other. I’m giving them a grade based on the three positions. As far as Kerk being an F-? Cmon. I get it. You hate PSU. But at least try to control yourself.
  8. My C was given for these guys assuming they going against tough riders. I’m being extra picky here because they all very good. Just trying to show what I perceive as their weekness. if you move them to a B I’m not going to argue..
  9. No anyone can get pinned. But Nickal never had problem getting off bottom i guess my point is..if Lee has a weakness, it would be on bottom against tough riders. The guys on this list are all awesome wrestlers. I’m being extra picky since they’re rarely exposed to their weakness
  10. Lee has been pinnned against Piccinnini and has a tough time getting out from tough riders (Glory)
  11. A is because all these guys consistently get riding time on their opponents and turn and get back points against average to above average opponents. the A+ in this category are the elite ones that will get back points or pins against anyone
  12. In another thread we were talking about some guys and thought it’d be interesting some others thoughts. We are strictly talking folkstyle, so please don’t let freestyle enter these ratings. Gonna give grades on Neutral, Top and Bottom with some of the tops guys. A+ should only be given if elite at something. Brooks A (neutral), A (top), A (bottom) Otoole A- (neutral) A+ (top), A (bottom) Lee A (neutral) A+ (top) C (bottom) Starocci B (neutral) A top A bottom RBY A+ (neutral) C (top) (C bottom) Yianni A-(neutral) C- (top) A (bottom) Dean C (neutral) A+ (top) A (bottom) Kerk A (neutral) A (top) C (bottom) Parris A- (neutral) A (top) C (bottom) interested in others thoughts and grades and different wrestlers. only thing not accounted for here is defense. For example. Take Yianni, I think what makes him great is his defense (turning others shots/mistakes into his score).
  13. Lee was pinned from Piccinini and has been ridden by Glory. I gave Lee an A+ on top. So no argument there.
  14. Spencer Lee hasn't wrestled and who knows what he looks like when he comes back. As far as all three facets of folk..Spencer gets A from neutral, A+ on top an a C on bottom. Brooks..A from neutral, A on top and A from bottom Aren't you the one who said AOC in the conversation? If true, you should be disqualifed from an opinion. If I'm mistaken..sorry
  15. As it should be..If Gomez didn't take the loss to Johnson..then Gomez would have been 1
  16. Besides the PSU guys looking dominant..Elam showed me something..he can be a nightmare matchup for anyone (hopefully on opposite side of Max). O'Toole the varsity version of Hamiti. McKee was a mismatch on paper and it showed. Carr/Monday, worst match..neither guy attempted a real shot. Matthews did nothing, glad Alairez got the win. Gomez/Sasso fun match..Sasso just gassed in 3rd I guess.
  17. Considering he's at best the third best wrestler at this weight, I don't think he qualifies
  18. AOC??? LOL..all credibility lost with that take. Folkstyle has 3 components, neutral, top and bottom..no one is as complete as Brooks..and it's not really close
  19. Yes..they will be used as they should. The matches happened. We have Mark Hall as precedence, they not only matter for rankings but also for seeding (will be part of seeding criteria coaches rank).
  20. Great night for the PSU guys! All dominant against top tier opponents. Aaron Brooks is THE best folkstyle wrestler in college.
  21. Brooks was a “special” one. Nevills I never thought he’d win a NC. Figured him to be a AA type after a couple years. Beard is a fun one but his gas tank always scared me. Wish him nothing but the best. Didn’t see his loss the other day. Surprised it was that lopsided.
  22. “Picking apart quality wins is the only way I can debate”
  23. I guess you thought the same thing about Nolf, Bo, Zain, Starocci, Brooks, Taylor. I didn’t have to wait till they happened to wrestle a top 5 guy to know they’d be multiple time champs. I could tell they were special from day 1 so go ahead. Poke fun at every win, potential losses and then come back in March or the end of his career and see if I was right or wrong
  24. And as for my, “I’d take him over anyone but Yianni.” I’m talking in betting terms, and I stand by that and would take those bets if anyone wanted to. Not sure why this is so outrageous So if anyone wants a little action against Van Ness I’m here for it.
  25. Here’s the thing. Not sure how this has spiraled. I like Van Ness. I don’t think he’s winning title this year but I do see him as AA. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him in final. I don’t see him beating Yianni. I can see him losing to a Gomez or Sasso in first meetings because they have funky styles that for the first time gives them advantage (Gomez with the upper body stuff and Sasso with the funk). I could also see him dropping a match here or there because he is offensive and can get sloppy. All that being said. My predication is AA this year and a multiple time champ for career.
