My eyes tell me MM better than Haines. they probably left it up to MM on what spot he wanted to challenge for and he chose 165 Hell. If MM was at 157 I think it would be a “next topic” scenario.
-
See NHS post above..this is why I think it happens (they can move guys up or down a spot) and will give 1 seed to former champ if they split

Everyone picking Mendez over Bartlett. Interesting. I understand why, but IMO, Mendez is the perfect style for Bartlett to expose. I’ll take Beau in a 3 takedown to one match (all 3 takedowns will be counters to Mendez)

None I think Carr or O’Toole will be 1 seed depending on who wins B12s. Loser could possibly get the 4 which would be wild my thoughts on how it will play out.. 1 seed will be undefeated or one loss B12 champ 2 Undefeated B10 champ (swap with 3 if Hamiti or Caliendo win) 3 Ramirez 4 Loser B12 championship

I’m excited for Star vs Welch. No one ever tries to push the pace against Carter. I don’t think Welch knows how to go backwards. so this will be a fun match. I think Carter wins comfortably but it’s going to be fun watching 2 guys scrap for 7 minutes

Reminds me of Aaron Brooks first year. They had him ranked below like 4 ACC wrestlers because they were all ranked ahead to start and they all beat up on themselves. if I recall, it was Bolen, Hidlay, DePerez and someone else. Brooks couldn’t jump ahead because he never had opportunity to wrestle them. Mitch next big test with be Caliendo and I think that match is set up for Mitch to put it on him just because they both are so offensive I just feel MM better at everything Caliendo does well. He’ll get Hamiti at BIGs. This could be interesting. If MM breezes undefeated through Bigs..he locks up 1 or 2 seed depending on if Otoole slips up

Limiting the number of matches - any negative consequences?

PSU won. We saw every starter other than Star who was sick. If PSU needed Star to win that dual, I'd be upset he sat..they won (by a landslide) so what's the issue? I'd be more upset if I'm a Michigan fan and I lost to SDSU..how many starters sat that match? And on top of it..they lost! -

The ways the rules are now, is you need 2 of 3 things to qualify a spot for your conference (winning% ( believe at 70%), top 25 or 33 in coaches rank, top 25/33 RPI. I'm not sure if it's top 25 or 33..so someone can correct me. You only need at least 8 matches and 1 within last 30 days for coaches rank. You need 15 for RPI. I believe coaches want as many of their guys to qualify a spot for their conference Now after conference tourney, the NCAA seeding comes in to play with the formula they use for seeding which includes all of the above for qualifying a spot along with some other stuff. This is where the lack of matches could hurt "most" wrestlers. For example..you need 15 matches after conference weekend to get an RPI. For those below 15 matches, they won't get an RPI ranking which will affect their seed. The clear cut #1's (like a Brooks or Starocci) it doesn't matter where they get seeded, they not worried about being "on the wrong side of a bracket" as they will win regardless. But for 99% of the wrestlers, seed does matter and placement and draws are a big component of where they end up on podium. Long story short..if we want to see wrestlers wrestle more..up the numbers..make the coaches rank 12 and RPI 19. If they did this, you would see more matches -

What the hell are you talking about? I read your post 3 times and still don't understand what you're trying to say here? 1. I didn't make an argument 2. You are crying in your other posts about Cael not showing enough emotion on the sideline. What do you care what Cael's reactions are? -

My thoughts on Duals.. 1. You try to win. This brings the fans 2. If you think you can win and have a guy dinged up, sick, etc..no worries sit them 3. You need everyone to win the dual? Then you best better put everyone out there with the sniffles, minor tweak Cornell and ASU over the years is the only teams that come to mind that will actually throw duals. That makes me sick, since if you want a big fan base, as a coach you should at least try to win -

Who are the teams that don’t care about duals?? Cornell..definetly, Arizona State..most likely. Michigan..not sure. Everyone else wrestling to win as far as I can tell. Seems you have a problem with maybe 3 teams..take it up with them -

Maybe that’s because he doesn’t act like you would or any other coach is the reason he’s the goat and you’re a hater? -
These are rankings. It’s subjective. Hidlay was at a lower weight last year, where as Elam and Buchanan were always at 197. They’re all undefeated so the rankers gave Elam and Buchanan the edge because they are returning at same weight where as Hidlay moved up. Brooks moved up as well id be shocked if it’s not Brooks/Hidlay finals

Lewan was also one of the interviews and seemed excited to get a chance to knock off Haines. Only guy I can see being out is Gomez, if true he in Mexico -
A perfect world for Michigan would be DeAugustino win, Ragusin win, Gomez pin ( he can pin anyone), Lewan win (was an overtime match last year) and Amine win..that puts them at 18 points..that would be 5-5 split with 3 bonus. Can Kerk, Star, Brooks, Bartlett and Truax get at least 3 bonus? Highly doubtful this all happens on same night, but at least Michigan has a slight chance ..
-
I really want to put MD for Messenbrink because I really believe he puts it on Amine..I don't see how Amine has any chance to win though. I'd be shocked if this is a typical come down to the wire Amine style match As far as 133--I get it..we both like our guy
-
Truax was sick this past weekend..only way he will sit out is if he's still sick..he needs matches..only has 6 so far.
-
What's the story with Lewan? Has he been injured? Expected back Friday?
