  1. Pictured Rocks looked like a good spot but we passed. Some of the core memories were made at All the lake towns. Lake Michigan is bigger than I could have imagined. Hiking Sleeping Bear Dunes (Michigan) Lady paid $3K to get out of there Biking around Mackinac Island (Michigan) Ate a lot of whitefish Whitefish point light tower and sunken ships AirBnB Train Caboose (Canada) House on the Rock (Wisconsin) --- I don't know how to describe this - https://www.thehouseontherock.com/ Iowa State Fair ...the endless car ride This road trip was planned as unplanned—just picked a spot on the map, drove, and explored. My eldest didn’t want to get up, was indecisive, so we skipped Pictured Rocks on her day. Meanwhile, I'm up at dawn... practicing patience. The kids had their first Canadian poutine, beaver tail pastry, smoked salmon dip, and Wisconsin cheese curds. Green Bay was unimpressive. We skipped Milwaukee and nobody was interested in visiting Minneapolis. We missed out on Pictured Rocks, Saugatuck Dune Rides (rain), and a couple others. Touched some grass.
  2. I recently drove through/around Michigan, Canada, Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Wisconsin, and Iowa. I saw one Harris sign through my travels. I can't count the number of Trump signs; there were so many around the east side of Lake Michigan in the beach towns.
  3. Grading most recent 10 tweets in my feed right now. 8 of 10 are spam free. 10 of 10 are nude free. I'm only interested in 3 of the 10 tweets so have some config to do...) https://x.com/Culture_Crit/status/1826292229302084089 (no spam, no nudes, just Shroud of Turin) https://x.com/thefernandocz/status/1825956984149217530 (no spam, no nudes, just Mark Zuckerberg PR image changing over time) https://x.com/DefiantLs/status/1826337842190258472 (no spam, no nudes, just some weirdo that cares about identity) https://x.com/PicturesFoIder/status/1826062285707592188 (lots of spam memes/comments, no nudes, Emma Watson giving a speech on feminism) https://x.com/Rainmaker1973/status/1826138250873893339 (no spam, no nudes, comments on point with breakdancing) https://x.com/Thekeksociety/status/1826057549109432715 (no spam, no nudes, what do you notice about crooks) I am sick of the "what do you notice" posts https://x.com/innercitypress/status/1825961578790879435 (subscribe to unlock) no thanks https://x.com/FadeHubb/status/1826237375212917141 (no spam, no nudes, woman drove off with gas handle in tank) https://x.com/AlbertusIV/status/1826330938290438287 (no spam, no nudes, throw a baseball harder) https://x.com/InternetH0F/status/1826244457643061586 (lots of spam memes/comments, no nudes, truck marketing)
  4. Some tweets with innocent-looking girl images start off with questions like ‘What do you notice about this picture?’ but the comments quickly turn into nudes. I’ve learned to avoid clicking on them. Many popular tweets are flooded with auto-generated comments, memes, or keyword related off-topic stuff. It's annoying. I don't scroll past these comments, rather go to the next tweet. I follow enough people to keep my overall feed is pretty balanced. I’ve noticed that lately, the comment sections on left-leaning posts are not as toxic as they were on Twitter. It was soo toxic and frequent a few years ago I don't even know if there are more bots or not. Twitter used to be less appealing than hot dog water.
  5. If @red viking woke up on the other side... I’ve noticed that Democrats are all about electing leaders who are the very definition of “woke.” When I say “woke,” I mean they’re quick to jump on every new bandwagon, are all about virtue signaling, and can’t get enough of debating the latest social issue, even if it means turning every conversation into a game of ideological one-upmanship. They’ve been dissing Trump for being stuck in the past while they’re busy riding the wave of the latest trend, like it’s a contest to see who can be the most outraged. Evidence? Just look at the Democratic hopefuls. They’re always surrounded by celebs and activists who champion the latest causes like they’re winning trophies. They’re more interested in posting their “I’m so progressive” selfies than actually discussing practical policies. They cheer on the loudest voices on social media and act like they’re saving the world one hashtag at a time. I could go on and on. And don’t get me started on their obsession with identity politics! It’s like a never-ending parade of who’s the most enlightened, even if it means ignoring common sense or practical solutions. A huge chunk of Democrats seem to think that running on a platform of feel-good slogans and social justice is the ultimate answer, without always considering how to make those ideas work in the real world. MANY of them campaign on a “look how woke I am” image, complete with activist chic and a side of social media outrage. I’m just wondering if this is really about progress or if it’s just a never-ending quest for ideological brownie points. Discuss.
  6. Ma’am, you sure you’re in the right spot? This here’s a wrestling forum, not a dance studio. Ain't nothing wrong with protecting future tricycle motors.
  7. Was Covid inappropriately rubber stamped as the cause of death? Yes! (not pictured but previously addressed) Did Covid AND Society increase deaths in 2020 as compared to 2019? Yes! Raw death counts increased by 19% (pictured) while the total population increased by 0.4% (not pictured). The raw death counts is 15% higher in 2022 (pictured) as compared to 2019 while the total population increased by 1.6% (not pictured). https://wonder.cdc.gov/controller/datarequest/D157; Something has changed. Comparing 2022 to 2019, there is a 38% increase in the deaths of US folks between the age of 40 and 44 years. Why? Self harm Ask yourself if life is better than it was four years ago.
  8. Y’all still pointing out business as if that negated the original post. X is better for users.
  9. It is more show than anything was my first reaction. Perhaps because cash isn't used much anymore and tips on credit are auto declared.
  10. I have not looked. which will cost more, the child credit or the house credit? Best chance for owning a house is exploring options to limit corporate ownership, building new cities, waiting for the boomer cycle… Maybe we will have multiple families in homes…. with everyone working to pay… first the woman got a job and houses doubled… now the kids will work and the house doubles again. Depressing.
  11. as a server… i was told not to report cash tips beyond minimal wage to avoid taxes…
  12. Think about how the rise in education costs was largely driven by the easy availability of student loans. This influx of funding boosted demand for higher education, allowing institutions to raise tuition prices. Similarly, a $25K incentive for homebuyers would increase demand for houses, enabling sellers to raise prices. There is a limited housing supply, and printing money will cause inflation, resulting in a boost to the home's asking price. Personally, I anticipate asking $50K more for my property...
  13. Giving out this free cash for houses will again make inflation worse. My house value just went up $50K if KH hands out $25K. Just like giving out money during Covid via the printing machine made everything cost more!!! Who wants a popsicle?
  14. If Trump were thinking critically... ...he'd see he’s already won on policy, achievements, humor, and wit. To improve his appeal, he should dial back the NYC attitude, show respect, acknowledge his opponents' accomplishments, stay calm, and focus on solutions. By softening his rhetoric and reducing personal attacks, he might connect with voters who are turned off by combative styles but are open to his policies and ideas. While he might not change the views of the uninformed and identity-driven voters, he could make an impact with those who value emotional intelligence.
  15. Why wasn’t he criminally charged with it? What part of operating within the democratic system with checks and balances equates to dictator? Will you add some posts to the thinking critically topic? I could sure use it.
  16. Trump kept us out of war. Why do you prefer war over peace?
  17. Why believe your ears in the raw footage When you can trust Kamala's friends and the media?
  18. She didn't label him racist, rather she called out his racist behavior. It was a brutal moment.
  19. The Tim Walz horse story is as believable as suckers and losers.
  20. Trump incited an insurrection as much as the election was rigged.
  21. Trump was not criminally charged with incitement of insurrection by the Department of Justice or any federal court. Special Counsel Jack Smith's federal indictment against Trump in 2023 did not charge Trump with incitement of insurrection. Impeachment in the house was a partisan political process requiring a simple majority vote. It was not a legal one. There was not bi-partisan agreement and it didn't pass in the Senate.
