  1. I have a new favorite quote
  2. He and Dake will NEVER join NLWC
  3. Thank you for identifying yourself as another source for not restaurant recommendations.
  4. Agree 100% Now if we could only get WIN Magazine to rank beyond top 20 we would be in business.
  5. Yeah, but its puppy love. That said, it feels like Wrestlestat has been the most accurate so far. I haven't done the math yet (stay tuned), but it seems like they have had the least volatility to their rankings. They have had the fewest of their pre-season #1s take an L.
  6. A thousand times, Yes. Assuming they both win this year (a safe assumption the last two years) then we are talking about a chance to be among the all-time greats with four titles. And for Starocci five titles is still in the conversation, though he has cast some doubt on that himself. Like RBY cast doubt he would come back for a third title shot this year. But even if they don't win this year we are still only talking about taking their fifth year.
  7. et tu?
  8. Minnesota is off to a rough start. Even after accounting for the loss of Gable Steveson, they are lagging well behind pre-season expectations. They came into the season ranked 7th by Intermat (using expected points, not max points), 9th by Flo, and 12th by Wrestlestat. They are now ranked 19th by all three services. Meanwhile, the corn is sweet in the land of Lincoln, with 2 of three services now projecting a podium finish. Nebraska scored 48 points at the last NCAA tournament and were projected to score between 33 (Wrestlestat) and 45 (Intermat) advancement and placement points this season. Their new projections are all around 23 points.
  9. I know I'm wasting my breath here, but you have a 6 lose freshman returning against either Aaron Brooks or Carter Starocci as a part of a good chance to win four? When I am looking for a good place to eat in Lincoln, I will not be asking you.
  10. Good question. I didn't think to check, but I guess guys don't get eighth years as often as I thought they did.
  11. Liam Cronin at 125. Had a big weekend beating Patrick McKee and Michael DeAugustino.
  12. You are not wrong. Among three timers in the freshman ineligible eras (100%ers), only Wayne Martin did the deed at three different weights. It was both very impressive and a bit of a technicality. In 1934 he won at 135, the third of eight weights. In 1935 he won at 145, the fourth of eight weights. In 1936 he won at 134, the second of seven weights. 1936 was an Olympic year and they would sometimes harmonize the weights and tournament structure with the Olympic weights and structure back then. A lot of three timers from that era won at two weights. No three timer in the freshman eligible eras have won at more than two weights.
  13. Glenbard North HS in Carol Stream, IL. Home of Tony Ramos, Austin Gomez, Abe Assad, and Billy Corrigan. Coach Hahn always wore cowboy boots, dominated the conference, and was not every competotor's favorite. He also owns a barn across the street with a gold dot on the roof. Only GN wrestlers are allowed to know its meaning. https://illinoismatmen.com/forum/forum/statewide/ihsa-3a/43276-gbn-hatred/page4 https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-xpm-1992-08-09-9203110535-story.html
  14. I lived a few hundred yards from that damned gold dot for about 30 years. And I was always curious about the cowboy boots and handlebar mustache in surburban Chicago. Never made sense to me.
  15. That is likely his motive for the post. But his premise is his first sentence.
  16. The OP's premise was that Iowa might need this to win the dual, not that either wrestler was on a vision quest.
  17. Ahh. That context. The summary specifically says that the defensive wrestler has a greater responsibility to initiate action "since the offensive wrestler has already demonstrated action to put their opponent in that position".
  18. After all the work you did for me, it is I who owes you the drink.
  19. Me? I don't think PSU makes the podium. Discuss.
  20. I would need a list of active coaches (79, I think) along with the year they started and the number of AAs. Of course, many will have zero AAs, but I think that could be tough. There may be a way to work backward though. I have all results for 2010-2022 in a db. From that I can do it by school (rather than coach) for the period. Then maybe use that as a filter. Hmmm, let me think on it a bit more. And the numbers @fishbane provided were total AAs rather than unique count of wrestlers who AAed. Again it is a data issue.
  21. Their names are Rock Harrison and Shawn Kenney. Harrison wrestled for Virginia. Kenney does a lot of UWW broadcasts.
