My group got the same deal for upper/lower going through an old teammate/friend that’s coaching at one of the schools. Will likely end up in the upper as they (understandably) try to save the lower tickets for parents.

Absolutely agree. There’s a ton of top talent that just doesn’t do the ranking series events and we end up with situations like this. One of these 3 at 92kg that are considered title contenders won’t medal now. I know there’s always contention when the brackets come out for NCAAs on seeding, but it does by and large make sense based on months of matches and similar competition over the course of the season. Not a 1:1 comparison, but the UWW brackets can be really head scratching sometimes. I don’t know how you implement common sense, but this is clearly lacking it. Regardless, at the end of the day I’m looking forward to seeing the top guys in the sport duke it out.

I first read this morning that Taylor and Sadulaev were on the same side of the bracket to meet in the semis. Hours later the rumor is that they’re redrawing the brackets. Going to be fun to watch either way!

There’s nothing not to love about Dieringer, and probably the best to never make a world team being in a log jam of all time legends. Cheers to retirement for him.

Happy to see old Krispy Kreme still at it, also with RBY going to OKST that makes a couple NLWC guys in recent news.

I’d agree it was well officiated, some of the scoring in Dakes semis I could’ve seen going a different way, but I also don’t think it impacted the final result. Also, what was Dake even challenging towards the end of the bronze match? “That’s the wrong sequence!” Me and my wrestling buds were watching together and couldnt figure out what to try and overturn. It was funny hearing Burroughs on the mic throwing a little flak basically calling him wrong live while it was happening. Glad he could turn it up at the end to win, wish he wrestled like that all 6 minutes. I say that as a complete Monday night couch quarterback.

I think we can both agree living vicariously isn’t healthy to begin with, so yes it would be precarious. But there’s also appropriate ways to conduct yourselves in social situations. Some people are fine walking around their apartment naked but they wouldn’t show up to the OTTs that way.

Agreed, if you aren’t the guy out there putting everything on the line you are watching as a fan of the sport and should show nothing but respect for the guys that put it all out there. They’re wrestling for team USA at the end of the day.

That’s fair, I did make the assumption with the tournament being at Penn State and hearing the crowds reactions being somewhat biased towards NLWC in general which is understandable. Also definitely not saying I have a problem with the fan base in general, just a few loud bad apples.

Just saw this come through in my wrestling friends group chat before seeing it here and whoever this person is doesn’t belong in our community. Penn State wrestling is great, their guys on the roster seem like great guys (maybe a couple controversial statements from a guy or two aside), but the fan base has some real asses. Dirt bags that tie their ‘legacy’ on to a team they never were on or cared about until Cael started the winning streak they’re on now.

Penn is crime heavy? Are you referring to Philly in general? Penn and Drexel are both in the University City district that has it's own security force that spend probably over half their time helping drunk undergrads get home safely. I had family that went there and it never felt dangerous whatsoever, even given the dumb shenanigans' we got up to on some late weekend nights. NCAA's there last time was a blast and am looking forward to them again in Philly next year. Also look forward to seeing what Valenti can do taking over. A lot of great potential comes through that room.

I’ve blown my gasket coaching high school kids with a lot less for stake. Couldn’t imagine how you handle that situation as an athlete or coach at that level. To go from the high of thinking you got the pin, then dealing with the long review, to then not even getting a takedown. It’s just not something that should happen.
