  1. Haha been in the DC area for the last 15 years myself, but did go to high school there with one of Vak’s favorite wrestlers.
  2. 5/5 so far Vak, good picks!
  3. I thought CStar would take him to it, first stall was warranted, second was a weird one. Would’ve won with riding time without the stalling point but yikes against a freshman versus a 4x champ to win like that.
  4. I think Cody Brewer was a similar case in 2015, I believe it was injury that caused him not to get many matches, before going on a tear and winning as the 13 seed.
  5. Wine is the choice of the night over here, looking forward to some great action tonight!
  6. That NF at the end was a bit questionable IMO, but good win for Sprat. He looks good.
  7. It does seem like a simple idea to just keep it all together and think why even do that, but I can understand that in the moment the adrenaline is going and emotions are high. I once tossed my mouthpiece of all things to my coach after state finals one year, he probably would’ve preferred the headgear.
  8. This is a ridiculous and wrong call by the ref.
  9. I really thought that looked like at least 2 back points for Downey before the reversal, but must be wrong as the refs reviewed and the flo guys didn’t think it was either.
  10. They showed a few different angles of it where I at a point thought that’s clearly JBs points or, then on another view, yeah Chance stopped the momentum and took him over for his points. I have the same qualms with international where so much can be open to interpretation based on how you see it. I believe the challenge ref in this case was Sammy Julian; one of the best US refs, who I trust to get the call right.
  11. In some degree to my understanding. Big donors, alumni, personal connections with the coaches etc.. My group got the same deal for upper/lower going through an old teammate/friend that’s coaching at one of the schools. Will likely end up in the upper as they (understandably) try to save the lower tickets for parents.
  12. Absolutely agree. There’s a ton of top talent that just doesn’t do the ranking series events and we end up with situations like this. One of these 3 at 92kg that are considered title contenders won’t medal now. I know there’s always contention when the brackets come out for NCAAs on seeding, but it does by and large make sense based on months of matches and similar competition over the course of the season. Not a 1:1 comparison, but the UWW brackets can be really head scratching sometimes. I don’t know how you implement common sense, but this is clearly lacking it. Regardless, at the end of the day I’m looking forward to seeing the top guys in the sport duke it out.
  13. I first read this morning that Taylor and Sadulaev were on the same side of the bracket to meet in the semis. Hours later the rumor is that they’re redrawing the brackets. Going to be fun to watch either way!
  14. There’s nothing not to love about Dieringer, and probably the best to never make a world team being in a log jam of all time legends. Cheers to retirement for him.
  15. Happy to see old Krispy Kreme still at it, also with RBY going to OKST that makes a couple NLWC guys in recent news.
