Mountain Man Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Two great matches from the 1994 NCAAs were Babak Mohammadi- Oregon State beating Cary Kolat- Penn State in Semi-finals(preventing Kolat vs. Jaworski Finals) and Reese Andy- Wyoming pinning Les Gutches- Oregon State in the quarters. But the best all-time was Lincoln McIlravy- Iowa losing to Steve Marianetti- Illinois in Iowa City. You had to be there and understand how dominant Lincoln McIlravy was.

Not that I liked seeing Cenzo lose, but at least he wasn't denied the opportunity to go for a fourth title. We are still feeling the effects from the NCAA's response to the lost COVID tournament. I can't wait for when all the free COVID year guys are finished. Between the free year, redshirts, Olympic redshirts, and medical redshirts, you get situations like AJ Ferrari's NCAA eligibility progression (provided by El_Jefe over on the The Wrestling Room): 2021 - free year 2022 - OKST, car wreck 2023 - shirt 2024 - Olympic shirt 2025 - Bakersfield 2026 - Nebraska 2027 - Nebraska 2028 - if he gets a medical shirt for 2022

I just re-watched the McIlravy/Marianetti match. That really was a great match. It was interesting to hear the announcers say that McIlravy, a junior, was only 20 years old. Comparing that to the ages of some of the incoming freshmen nowadays is crazy.

Taylor Andonian v. Gomez Hendrickson v. Steveson I didn’t think so many ppl still remembered Lang v. Caldwell considering that was only a quarter final match. Was crazy to watch
