Two great matches from the 1994 NCAAs were Babak Mohammadi- Oregon State beating Cary Kolat- Penn State in Semi-finals(preventing Kolat vs. Jaworski Finals) and Reese Andy- Wyoming pinning Les Gutches- Oregon State in the quarters. But the best all-time was Lincoln McIlravy- Iowa losing to Steve Marianetti- Illinois in Iowa City. You had to be there and understand how dominant Lincoln McIlravy was.

I really wish the SoCon got more entries. I think TK Davis is the best shot at placing but 133 is crazy tough so it is a long shot. I believe Thomas Snipes and Stephan Moncherry are among the SoCon’s best shots outside of Davis, and I would be thrilled to see any of them make the podium. If the SoCon only secures 10 entries into the NCAAs, it would be very disappointing for small-school representation—especially at a time when many smaller programs are already struggling to survive. Limiting their opportunities at this level only makes that challenge greater; it certainly doesn’t help their cause.
