Well "Hell came to Breakfast" but I don't think they are staying for lunch and dinner. So I think they break a record but do not get the 200 mark.  The home cooking is going away, and there are more hungry peasants to feed.

Sure they could, just like Donald Trump could pay the $80 million he owes to the woman who has a court judgment against him for being a sexual predator.

It's not good for the sport just like when Iowa was doing the same. I would rather see 10 champions from 10 different schools.

Both are/were good for the sport. You'll still be watching.

So you don't think programs cutting wrestling has a link to PSU. Because I do and that's not good for the sport

Programs cutting wrestling has a much stronger link to football than PSU (or Iowa).

Let's say the perform optimally. Imo, ceiling is 8 champs, 4th Place Finish (for Mirasola), and 6th Place Finish (Davis).

Using scoring from https://collegesportscommunicators.com/media/documents/2011/12/ncaawrestlingscoringrules.pdf

1st Place Finishes: 16x8 = 128

4th Place: 9

6th Place: 6

Total: 143 before Bonus/Match Points

Braeden (+3): Based on Braeden's performance at B1G's, I'm assuming no bonus from him. Let's get him to the Q8, that's +2 champion side, then 2 wins backside for another +1.

Cole (+5): Cole optimally makes a Semifinal run, only one of which I think would be bonus, a tech. That's +4.5 on the championship side. Backside, one more decision for +0.5.

Lightning (+9.5): Up until Semifinals, bonus points, all techs. The rest are decisions

Blaze (+8): Up until the Quarters, he techs. The rest are decisions

SVN (+12.5): He can bonus everyone on his best day. Let's say, 2 falls, 1 tech, 2 majors.

Duke Mafia (+10): If everything were realistic and optimal, he'd have 1 decision, but the rest bonus (2 techs, 2 majors).

Mesenbrink (+11.5): All bonus, 3 techs, 2 majors.

Haines (+8): 2 techs, 3 decisions.

Rocco (+7.5): 1 tech, 1 major, 3 decisions

Barr (+11): 4 techs, 1 decision.

143 + 3 + 5 + 9.5 + 8 + 12.5 + 10 + 11.5 + 8 + 7.5 + 11 = 229

(I might have screwed up on Championship side guys, let me know).

If everyone performs to their ceiling, yes. That rarely happens though, and I doubt they'll hit 200 for this. I think they'll have 5/6 champs.

What I do think can happen is a record number of points for the top 3 teams, or 4 teams, or 5 teams.   The wealth will significantly lie at the top of the food chain.

That’s a clownish take.

Universities dropping men’s D1 wrestling primarily took place decades before PSU’s current run, back when Iowa was king and PSU just produced some good individuals. Iowa (then) and PSU (now) had NOTHING to do with it.

Title IX and focusing resources on football, men’s basketball, and trying to grow women’s sports to some level of participation parity with men’s sports is what killed D1 wrestling and a few other men’s sports at the collegiate level.

We’ve actually seen a small net INCREASE in the number of programs during PSU’s current run. Do they get credit for that??

200? Wow. That’s a bunch. I would think almost everything would have to go right to hit a number like that. Not sure that’s in the cards. But I think they will flirt with the scoring record again, maybe break it. Good chance to set records for finalists and champs. I could see that happening. I also expect a large margin between PSU and whoever comes in 2nd. Not 100 pts like over Cornell a few years ago, but certainly in the 40-60 range.
