Mendez as long as he wins his third. Sorry. 3x champ will clinch it.

Previous seasons aren't an official criterion for the Hodge, even if in fact they might (likely) influence voters.   MM has one single loss in three years, and that was a 9-8 loss to David Carr, a multiple time champ. Mendez has 14 career losses and this is the only year (thus far) that he is undefeated.

Those anointing Mendez might want to wait until he wrestles Vega, who is probably going to give him a great match

Just looking at the Stats you have to go with MM.  Also if you do the eyeball test, I think again it has to be MM or Barr.

I give it to MM over Barr due to Barr missing the first part of the season, and 165 is a little tougher weight this year.

MM’s stats aren’t so impressive after you compare PSU’s schedule to Ohio State’s.

MM also missed the first half of the season, for all intents and purposes

These psu fans think hodge voters will be fooled by inflated stats gotten by wrestling nothing but cupcakes the entire first half of the season

At this point in the season, it's MM or Mendez.

Statistically, MM over Mendez.   Eyeballs, Mendez has been more impressive to me but that's also because I expect MM to wear guys down so his domination isn't new where it feels Jessie has been more impressive relative to expectations coming into the season.   It's close but I probably think its MM's to lose.

Barr's stat looks good but he has only faced 0-1 AAs.   There might not be another AA in the B1G.  His best win is Stephen Little, who lost to a Mikey Squires a few weeks ago and needed the ref to ignore the stalling rules to win Pac 12s.

He just teched McDaniel yesterday who is an AA, he beat 22-9 in the dual, he majored little. He teched Posada who beat Stout yesterday has a strong chance to AA next week

Mitchell, right now.  Obviously the tournament will dictate....but, I think 65 is deeper than 97, thus trumping Barr, just slightly.  I think Mendez is amazing but if its a 1 year award he will not have the same dominance as MM.  If it is a lifetime or senior based award then Jesse.  As I understand the award, dominance in a year it MM all day.

Last year doesn't count.   McDaniel may low AA this year but he easily could not.

Barr has faced 3 total AA contenders.  McDaniel, Posada and Little.   They might AA but they all might not either.

My point was if you compare who Mendez and MM have wrestled, they are much stronger schedule than Barr.   If Mendez wrestled a comparable schedule to Barr, he would also have 100% bonus.

Hopefully the Hodge voters consider this hypothetical schedule that Mendez didn't wrestle.

Hopefully the Hodge voters will consider Mendez's prior accomplishments that clearly are not part of the criteria too.

Hopefully not.  If they do, maybe they should also consider MM's singing, Josh Barr's bruised ribs, SVN's bow, Luke L's lightning, Jax's funk, Welsh's tattoos, Haines' calm demeanor, Duke's Russian tie, and even Shapiro's concussions.

It's not part of the criteria even if it arguably could be.  Mendez has 14 career losses.  MM has one.   MM has more falls and a higher bonus and dominance rate.

My response was sarcastic to the resident troll.  If I had a vote I would lean MM based on this season's dominance.

There is precedent for co-winners and this year seems like a good choice if MM, Barr and that kid from Ohio State whip butts at NCAA's like they have been.  If only one, MM has the edge as more dominant than the Ohio State guy and far tougher weight than 197.

Would Haines' calm demeanor negate his chances after the attempted murder of Minto at the dual?
