On a whim I decided to look up Ventresca's wrestlestat profile because it seems to me that he wins a bunch by scoring 4 points or less.

First three low scoring guys that came to my head.

Eddie Ventresca - 5

Angelo Ferrari - 5

Cody Merrill - 6

Can folks find others who won five or more matches scoring 4 or less points?

Good stuff. I think the 4U club should as honorary members include guys who wrestled matches where the winner scored 4 points or less. Gabe Arnold has 8 so far this season (4 were wins). He sure likes to keep it close.

Tyler Ferrera (Cornell) is 21-7 and has eight wins by *three* or fewer points.

WOW, we have a new winner!

I'm certainly flexible, the club can allow that. Maybe an alternate membership level.

Pfft.  Chaz Tucker went 31-0 during the doomed 2020 season with, count'em, 8 wins scoring four or fewer points, with four of them scoring only three points.  In no match all season did he hold the opponent to zero points.  Bonus rate of under 10%.

So basically only four would qualify under OP’s criteria with 3 pt TD’s

Will Lewan laughs at that in double digits at historical low scoring seasons.

He actually only had 6 during all of 2023-2024 including NCAA’s (the first year of 3 pt TD’s I believe).

If we limit it to wins with 3 pts or less in prior seasons, he had:

2022-2023: 10 (5 of those in the B10 tourney which is kinda crazy)

2021-2022: 9

2020-2021: 2

2019-2020: 6 (no NCAA’s)

Starocci would have made the team his freshman year but never again.

Never mind. 5 or more.

There are some good wrestlers standing on the precipice.

Are you counting 4 points or 3?  Probably needs to be 3 prior to 3pt TD.

This is easy to address with my Pablo database.  The most I find is 7 wins where the winner has 4 points or fewer.  These are absolute values, not percentage of matches

Of the 7 win club, the best is Hendrickson from Oklahoma, who only has 10 wins overall.  So has scored no more than 4 in 7 of his 10 wins.  Daugherty has 11 wins, Murphy and Keslar have 12.

For the 6s, Bailey, Robinson and Ulrich have 10 wins.

For the 5s, Ferrari and Nelson have 9 wins.

These are the guys who have more than half their wins scoring 4 or fewer

Interestingly looking at Jore Volk, he has 2 4pt or less wins over 2 different guys (Ventresca and Koehler)

Where does Jason Tsirtsis come out in 3 pts or less? He always comes to mind as a guy who was aiming for rideouts as soon as the match started.

well 10 of his 16 wins at NCAAs meet the 3 or less standard (plus he had another wins where he scored 4). Then again a lot of guys scoring prowess takes a dip at that level.
