Should Brent Metcalf have been DQd, handing Ohio State the 2009 NCAA title?

good point but that was the NCAA finals - not sure if refs have a different mindset for a move like that during the final match of the season.

Sparks is a B1G marketer. Recently a journalist said something along the lines of "you can be a reporter or a fan, not both" and Shane replied back "you can actually be both."

No, Shane, ya can't. And this is why. An actual reporter must strive to be objective.

I’m a big fan of sparks and I’ll give him a pass. Could have just been an oversight, not sure.

J'den Cox was disqualified for a similar incident. Should've been a relatively easy DQ call as he clearly intentionally shoved Minto off the elevated stage.

Since worse stuff happens all the time, can you please point to a few example from this season that were worse?

What Braeden Davis did, which they did talk about more IIRC.

You think Davis's little sweep and mean mug is worse than purposfully pushing your opponent off an elevated platform?

Glad this being discussed.  I really wish the ref org looked at tricky / perhaps bad calls and discussed the ‘right’ call.  And then … perhaps not weekly, but maybe monthly, they had a call with coaches and press to explain what the right call should be in those situations.

What a clueless comment.   There are no actual journalists anymore.  They quit being "journalists" when they overwhelmingly shamelessly supported (to this day) one political party over the other regardless of facts.  Anyone who believes that objectivity is a quality of any reporter today is clearly delusional or just mentally ill.

Objective journalists are a myth in general. Read some history. There were duels fought over slander in papers often owned by the opposition of the victim of said slander. Papers choosing sides and being political is at least as old as America and id wager much older than that. An objective journalist can exist and has existed but theyre exceptions and have never been the rule. That was simply propaganda for a time when we all had the same channels and watched the same news. There was always an agenda.

Anyone visit the PSU forum after this match? I’d be curious how they are responding to the very same question from non PSU fans.

I haven't seen much discourse about it outside of a couple comments. The Hardy/Davis discussion has sucked up most of the oxygen.

Someone once asked Walter Kronkite why he was a liberal and he responded something close to this "I am a liberal because I want to give equal voice to all ideas"

The next question should onviously have been about why he would give equal voice to the half of all ideas that are the bad ideas.

You don't know what you're talking about, but there's a different forum if you want to moan about your distorted politics

By my count 5 steps out of bounds before the shove.  Far worse than an unnecessary roughness hit in the nfl where they are a half or full step out.   He appears to pull his body weight back a bit on the last step so he himself doesn’t go off the edge.    Very dirty exchange.

It certainly could’ve been. And it likely would’ve been justified.
As it was happening, with a 15-9 team score, I was kinda thinking/expecting Manning to say he’s hurt/can’t continue and Levi was gonna get a DQ loss.
I haven’t had my usual time to rewatch the dual 1-2 more times, but seemed they got super close to the edge, Levi saw where they were, Minto was still hanging on to him and Levi made a business decision (WHICH I DO NOT AGREE WITH, SUPPORT OR CONDONE) to shove him instead of going over the edge with him??
Again, I didn’t like it, don’t agree with it, Levi’s always been a good kid, classy kid, this was an anomaly. And he’s super lucky it didn’t go the DQ route.

Chippy match all around, there’s no love lost it appears PSU v NEB. Was not happy with Brock’s belly taps, Braedens temper tantrum, Taylor’s post match walk off antics, Levi’s shove, Ferrari’s post match antics. 🤷‍♂️

General consensus was no one was happy with Davis or Levi, lucky it wasn’t a DQ for Levi and belly taps aside, you can’t lose your sh!t on the mat as far as Davis goes. A few outliers taking Davis side and bristling at the belly taps, but definitely the minority.
We’re not the cult many make us out to be.

going over the edge with him??

Watch the vid I posted.  It’s a little in slow mo.  He ran his opponent to the edge.   Looked like an offensive linemen run blocking.   The going over the edge with him caveat to make it look less like a punk move is not realistic imo

Both Haines and Davis should be suspended for multiple matches.

when was the last time a D1 wrestler was suspended for similar behavior during a duel match?

When was the last time someone was nearly shoved off a platform maliciously on purpose 5 steps out of bounds?
