juniorvarsity Posted May 6 Posted May 6 3 hours ago, WrestlingRash said: All kids who angle shoot the age limits are cheating. There is clearly a benefit to doing it and that is why they do it. Try telling a normal person, someone outside of wrestling, about this practice and see what they have to say. If you think its normal and okay, you are flying too close to the sun. I would never do it for my kid. But I just don't care. I'm not going to hate on the kid for it. That's the extent of it for me. I am sure when he wins NCAAs his freshman year you will say it's not that impressive because of his age.

juniorvarsity Posted May 7 Posted May 7 1 hour ago, WrestlingRash said: its cheating and cheaters should always be called out. Could you please put a list together so we know who you think we should hate on? So does it piss you off most with Bo because he is literally at the maximum age allowed with the August birthday versus like a January birthday?
HokieDave87 Posted May 7 Posted May 7 VT board says the donation was initially going to be a match up to $1M but the Jesters just donated it instead of waiting so they changed the match into a campaign. Regarding Bo - what a horrible kid off the mat who isn’t a great role model for younger kids and can only beat kids he’s older than and totally didn’t dominate his age group division at the US Open teching his way through the bracket like 5 minutes ago. Lmao this guys a clown 3

I'd love to see it! By prep schools, I assume you mean traditional prep schools such as Blair Academy, Wyoming Seminary, etc. (Hint: I worked at one for eight years. Our year end tournament existed before the public school state tournament. We did not belong to their state association, nor did we have any desire to belong.) HokieDave87 Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Nininger registered at 74kg for U23's. A lot of optimism out of Blacksburg on him taking the 165 spot. Would make sense why they didn't push harder for a 165 in the portal.

I assume Gaj is the better guy being true freshman AA, so Ninninger gets pushed to 165. One of them has to do it. Outside looking in, seems that Gaj won the 149 spot at Midlands. Both guys had a good win early in the season, but Gaj had many losses to good guys and looked good in those losses. I think they both flipped between 149 and 157 at National Duals, right? But Ninninger didn't compete after Midlands(injury?) and Gaj continued to look better throughout second semester. I've said it before, I really think Virginia Tech has a chance to AA at every weight. Everyone is top 10 or ranked very close to it except Mullen.

If he puts a lot of time in the weight room til November, he should be ready by next season. He’ll have to beat Church but I think he has the skills to do that. He beat Arrington at 157 last year and will have Green to train with to get him ready and Andonian too.

Nininger won the wrestle off in the room, Gaj was set to redshirt, then Nininger's injury at Midlands changed the decision.

Gaj is a great scrambler and placed 6th this past year with wins over Aden Valencia, Jaxon Joy, and Sergio Lemley Edited May 24 by Tyler Perry

I believe Nininger suffered a leg injury during Midlands... I didn't see the matches, but what I was told was he was basically wrestling on one leg for most of it. He was shut down after the tournament when they got back to Blacksburg.
