This may have been addressed before but are Cael and DT on good terms? After all that time together you would think they would still be close right? Obviously DT leaving to OK St makes that relationship drift apart a little but I've never really heard them speak about each other since DT took the job.

Yes, they are.  DT has learned a lot from Cael obviously as a wrestler but also as a coach.

Is it learning from past experiences or is the relationship where DT can or does call up Cael for advice?

I mean I don't have personal knowledge but I would imagine Cael would be willing to chat.

So in summary, you don't have personal knowledge but you still state categorically they are on good terms.

There is no evidence to the contrary.

Carl isn't really a chatty sort of guy.

I have no idea, but my feeling is that if Carl were to retire and name his successor at PSU, DT and Varner would both be on the shortlist.

Not Tom or Terry?

Agree, though there has been speculation that he doesn't want the job and is happy in his role. Similar maybe to Terry's situation. Both have had opportunities to apply for head coaching jobs elsewhere.

I believe they are fine. Reported DT ordered 5 batches of Cael's Cookies this week.

I don’t think they’re on good terms, maybe not outright hate, but there was/were some issues during the parting that didn’t go over well. Might be good now? But they weren’t at the beginning. But it’s Cael, I don’t see the stoic baldy getting into a screaming match with Taylor at NCAAs or some twitter or press p!ssing contest, not his style.

Cael's weird. Every other coach would give praise to a guy he mentored going on to become a coach elsewhere and wish them good luck.

Like Bobby Douglass when Cael (briefly) stayed at ISU!!!

“I wanted to make sure that the future of Cyclone wrestling was in good hands,” Douglas said. “And Cael Sanderson is the only person to lead this program forward.”

Craig Henning got screwed in the 2007 NCAA Finals.

I remember hearing Bobby complain after they replaced him with Cael.

LOL yeah taylor and brooks are great too!

Wonder why cael blacklisted his event and refused to dual? Guess his hatred of wrestling won out over his love of DT!
