Bassett vs bachmann

Miller vs James

got the 3 biggest on paper matchups I would say, Im going Raney, Bo, Melvin part of me thinks Bo techs Bachmann and part of me thinks its quite close. Bachmann never wows me but he is a winner almost always gets it done dating back to when he was like 4. Melvin looked considerably better in his semi than his quarter and Jayden has been awesome all weekend. Something worth noting is that Melvin really likes going underhook to cross pick and if he misses that hip to hip throw by. The KD guys specifically PJ and Jayden are absolutely unreal in that hip to hip under over position so I think that could be huge.

As far as Burnett,  it was a crossface that caught teeth and Burnett sold it. Have no fear though our fearless leader, Shillie was on the scene for quick pic and post...

If that's the mark, then that's horsecrap, unless the ref actually saw a chomp, which he clearly didnt by watching the video.  That's far more consistent with a crossface catching teeth than a bite.

Absolute BS call. They discussed it on the mat for a solid 20 mins after Burnetts hand was raised and he left

Jayden looked awesome, he did not break position at all and I think really started to wear Melvin out. While he did not score on any of them what really impressed me was his ability to pull in shots from space against a guy that fast.

I thought James' best chances would be late if he could weather an early storm. Turned out to be more tactical, but I did think James looked more fresh at the end. Miller is awesome with that underhook to ankle pick.

I think there is a serious argument to be made for that being the biggest high school on high school win ever given what Melvin has done this year.

Its just so weird.  I thought at least three of those cautions were on Bassett.  I couldn't see the hands, so I cant comment on if those calls were good.  And the ref kept varying his start whistle.  Sometimes it was as soon as they Bachmann touched the elbow, sometimes it was 1 second set.  The stall that came immediately after Bachmann escaped at the edge and Bassett drove him out was hilarious.  There may have been another where Bachmann shot Bassett to the edge, then Bassett flipped around, shot Bachmann out, and it was a stalling call on Bachmann.  I thought the crowd itself was like "WTF are you doing?"

That said, it was clear to me that Bassett was the better wrestler, but I would have loved for the ref not to involve himself so much.

Bachmann was obviously not looking to turn but if there is one chink in Bassetts armor it may be his bottom game. Second time including the Joy match that people have been able to ride him if they can stay behind his arms when he spams change over stand up. Thought Bachmann stayed in the fight well, wonder if its goes 6 without the injury times and ref interference though he seemed to be feeling it pretty early.

It was hilarious the number of breaks that Faith's coach was able to get for Bachmann by just sort of casually walking across the middle of the mat to summon over the ref for a chat.    Bro knows how to get his boy a break.

I thought most of the stall calls were warranted, save maybe one, but the cautions were crazy.  The last two were clearly on Bassett.

In theory they could meet a couple more times this year but I dunno... Bachmann doesn't look like he wants any part of being on the mat with him.
