This is sad for me to say as a former 125, but it feels like a lot of 125’s in the last few years have not been very offensive, possibly moreso than other weights.

I miss @Wrestleknownothing, I wonder if he’d have data on the number of matches that end regulation 1-1 by weight.  I know he had a prior thread that was something like that where he argued the 3 pt takedown may have actually resulted in less scoring, but I forget if it was broken down by weight.

The 3 point takedown was supposed to fix everything.  It didn’t.   Go back to the 2 pt takedown and just call stalling

Wasn't there a Ntl Dual match that was 0-0 end of 3rd?  Is this what we'd call perfect wrestling?

I once reffed a HS match that ended 0-0 after the UTB.  Well I guess it was technically 1-0 because you get a point for the rideout. Probably should’ve called more stalling…

Wrestling is the ONLY combat sport in the world where lightweights get more attention than actual grown up adults. If I was in charge, I would drop 125, 133 and 141. These weights are disgusting and weird. Only adult sized people at the D1 level.

posting the weight classes like this proves nothing. I hope you know that. Heavyweight bouts have generated the largest individual paydays, with some fighters receiving seven-figure sums for title fights. For example, Jon Jones's purse for his fight against Stipe Miocic was one of the biggest ever paid out by the UFC.

The UFC has dropped flyweight, AKA 125, in the past. Nobody cares to watch that crap. Its glorified midget fighting. Eliminate 125-141 and grow the sport, literally.

So cool. 10/10 were 14 at some point during that window. I am talking about eliminating these weights at the D1 level. Its not cool to be so tiny as a grown up.

Odd premise. I haven’t noticed this trend at all. I don’t follow D1 as a whole though, just my couple of fave teams, so it may be true.

If we want more takedowns we should go to 1pt for takedowns and 3pts for escapes.  😉

Not sure it’s a Non sequitur but.   What’s your argument.  If it didn’t increase action or scoring what was its purpose.   And if it didn’t achieve its purpose why not go back?

Didn’t guys like Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor fight for awhile at weights under 141 in their respective sports?

This ignores that a good chunk of the non-western world has lots of adults those sizes.  Japan's wrestling depth in those weights is definitely not weird and disgusting.

Feels like guys have gotten so counter attack reliant that the only guys that can really go and get it against elite competition seem to separate themselves.

I am talking D1, but I am glad you agree that western men of that size are bizarre and gross.

And? This is a list of the weights. Now post a list for their average purse which correlates to public interest. Nobody cares about the midget fighting.
