Argentina's Milei wins big in midterms with 'chainsaw' austerity

Argentina's President Javier Milei has led his party to a landslide victory in Sunday's midterm elections, after defining the first two years of his presidency with radical spending cuts and free-market reforms.

His party, La Libertad Avanza, won nearly 41% of the vote, taking 13 of 24 Senate seats and 64 of the 127 lower-house seats that were contested.

His gains will make it easier for Milei to push ahead with his programme to slash state spending and deregulate the economy.

...  Before these elections his party had just seven Senate seats and 37 seats in the lower house.

I guess the folks in Argentina just are not listening to the voice of reason and regretting their Milei vote of 2 years ago.   "Afuera" is the word for the folks there because they see good things happening because of what Milei is doing.   How stupid can they be?

Those guys don't read this forum because otherwise they would have heard how rotten Milei is and wouldn't have voted for him.   Bunch of idiots!!   Now Argentina will be a dumpster fire more than it has been.  

Unless...........

Those idiots have seen positive changes that they like and and said, we want more and get this economy under control, lets give Milei more help.   You just have to think they feel things are getting better.   I certainly hope so for their sakes.

Yes, this is true.   Venezuela in the 80s was the richest of SA nations.  Kasparov has this right.   Argentina has been through it, can Venezuela learn something from them?
