A tax on Meta will be passed on to the advertisers who will then raise their prices on the rest of us as we buy their products.   Joe taxpayer pays all the taxes.   Businesses don't pay a thing unless they decide to absorb the cost.   Very few businesses can or will do this.

A lot of people are wondering are those real gambling winnings or something else.  But I do agree he should pay on his winnings.  If true.

if I won 1.5 million at black jack or poker I would have a more concrete story.

But ya.

Taxes taxes and more taxes

I am calling BS on this.  No one should begrudge Pritzker his winnings.  IF he does not pay the 50% or so combined federal and state taxes he owes on the win then we can throw around terms like hypocrite.  But winning is no sin.

I think he declared it.  There is a video of him vaguely saying how he won it.

Congrats to him. Must be a smart guy. Winning that much playing black Jack takes some intelligence, and guts.

I think he said he was going to give it all to charity.   You can be sure he will deduct as much as he can for that.  I have no problem with that but for a guy that says the rich should pay their fair share to go and do something like that, that just reeks.

Do something like what?  Win at poker?  NOT A SIN.  Giving the money to charity?  The charity will probably use it better than the government.  NOT A SIN.  Isn't it dogma on the conservative side that charities do better than government at helping people anyway?  Pritzker has enough flaws to attack that no one should self-buffoonerate by focusing on this.

I was pretty clear.   I said nothing about the fairness of his winnings.   I said nothing about giving to charity other than that he will take a tax writeoff for it.   He wants the rich to pay their fair share in taxes.   I just see hypocrisy there.

Will he or will he not deduct the gift to charity on his taxes?
