Yes, people like secretaries may earn more but for highly skilled/degrees and management positions, pvt sector earns more.

As someone stated earlier in a reply to you. Job compensation is far more than just salary. Benefits and especially a pension that gov employees receive puts their total compensation package above those in the private sector.

Wrong. See the links I provided.

Any of those links even talk about pensions ?

Yes. Ĝovt workers often get pensions. Pvt sector workers usually don't, but get 401ks, which can be better.

401k are only as good as what an employee invests to hopefully get the match.  Pensions cost the employee nothing.   I contributed max amounts to my 401k for 28 years with a 4% and 6% match based on years of service.  My pension was still worth 3 times as much when I retired.   It’s.  A. FACT.

Again, what about Argentina.    If 20B is exchanged for an equal amount of pesos, then we still have 20B.   I don't see where the issue here is, unless this is not the case.

You're a total idiot. Employees typically contribute to pensions w an employee partial or full match.

Yes, pensions and 401ks grow a ton over 28 yrs. 3x would be typical.

The big pic is what's the total compensation package.

I think that’s pretty much the deal, we didn’t give Argentina anything, it was an exchange.  We might have been able to make a better financial investment, but keeping Argentina solvent could work to our benefit.

Yep. Which is exactly why gov workers make more overall. Again that idiot you reference is IN YOUR MIRROR

So how is a “typical” pension that delivers 3x the amount of the 401k not better?   Asking for an idiot I encountered.

401k also delivers 3x often. It's called inflation.

Just not typically like you say pensions do.  Got it.

Just as often if the person stays at job just as long. It's a function of the investments and time invested. It's very simple.

If I’m an employee that has both a 401k and a pension which is more valuable ?  Hint I’ve already given you the answer and you’ve already knowingly or unknowingly (I’m not sure) agreed with it.

So far that hasn't even happened yet as near as I can tell.

So far the US has bought pesos in the open market to support the currency. Unless the seller is the Argetine government, they do not get that dollars directly. Instead they just benefit from the support of their currency.

The US is also talking about buying $20 billion directly from the government (the aforementioned swap), but Trump says that is contingent on Milei's party winning the upcoming election.

Finally, Bessent talked about getting third parties to also do a $20 billion swap with the government.

With all of his contacts on the Street couldn't the Sec Treas have sweet talked a private firm to do it without taxpayer $$ involved?  While the goal of stability for an emerging ally is laudable I don't think the federal government should be swapping anything for anything.  Swapping is not in the constitution from where I read it.

Edit:  I should have read all the posts before posting.  WKN notes 3rd parties are being approached.  My point stands that I object to the US Gov speculating in currencies on principle.
