Well sure ... but why did you drag GWN over to the International forum?  We miss him in the DF.

It's only weird if you don't have the variety and level of skills Gable has.

When you could be successful at multiple professional sports. It becomes a difficult choice.

A difficult choice that neither you, nor most of the population, can imagine having to make..

I count one professional sport that he could be successful at, MMA. And MMA is a newcomer  that utilizes a prizefighting as its model (similar to boxing). It naturally recruits from wrestlers and outside the MMA family .

What other professional sports could he be succesfull at? I can't think of any? I don't think he has the personality and fame to do what the Paul brother did in boxing. Wrestling isn't a true professional sport (by some definitions).

It's clear your trajectory has been a humorless one since you cannot detect even the most unsubtle language of jesting.  Want to compare your career with mine?  I'm a tenured faculty member in two departments at a major research university with lots of influential publications.  How about you?

On the contrary, we're still jesting (perhaps you missed that.)

I'm a wandering nomad. The bohemian lifestyle is meant for me.

From time to time, I perform plays of Shakespeare, and I always deliver.

In my circles, I'm what would be considered influential. I might even be as self-important as you.

I agree with you. I would vote for wrestling. But neither of us gets a vote. Nor should we.

But you're completely missing the bigger picture here.

When someone has a wide variety of high-level skills, doors are opened. That doesn't mean any kind of guaranteed success. It simply means there are potential opportunities.

  • Until he tried - he can't know if he can be successful in boxing.
  • Until he tried - he can't know if he can be successful in the WWE.
  • Until he tried - he can't know if he can be successful in the NFL.
  • Until he tried - he can't know if he can be successful in MMA.

How about bowling? Maybe shotput or hammer throw? Frisbee golf?

My point is simply that nobody should be bagging on a guy who has skills and opportunities and is willing to seek out what is best for him.

Don't pretend to know what he can or can't do. You don't know. He's finding that out on his own - and good for him.
